Cthulhu Saves the World

Bought this game way back when Totalbiscuit(Rest in Peace) did his series of 'WTF is' when this showed up. Loved it when I played it back then with the interesting humor and dialogue. However attempting to play this game was an absolute annoyance as the character sprite moved too fast to get into one block entry ways, NPCs or even the towns themselves. This was the annoyance point where I stopped playing after getting to the zombie town. I could not find one piece that slowed down my character whatsoever. I don't recommend this game anymore unfortunately. I like the combat style and level-up system, everything with it, but the movement sucks my sanity away here.

I played through most of this back in I think 2016 or around then and I got almost to the end but never finished this game. I've been on a kick to finish all of the games I started and left partially completed so the other day I reinstalled this to finish the campaign. The game would not get past the opening cut scene and when I looked it on it seems like to have to enable legacy media features on your computer for this to work. Windows already has too much cr ap baked into it that I really didn't feel like adding to it by enabling these features so I'm leaving the game uncompleted. I think I was pretty near the end anyways. The game, as I remember, is fun enough, albeit in terms of gameplay very generic. The game also has a good funniness to it. But I don't think it's a good 2026 purchase since it doesn't really work well w/o installing some things you may not want to. If you are okay installing these things then go for it and buy the game. I did try running the game in compatibility mode just on the off-chance that would be enough as a work around to get the game running but it looks like you do need those legacy media features.

I wouldn't have seen myself playing an RPG-maker-esq game if it wasnt for my likeness to allow for rng to select the games i play as of recent, but i will say i enjoyed this, the theming is great, the dialog is funny, the characters are witty and the combat is just deep enough to keep things interesting.

This game is awesome! This game is great if you like the old dragon quest type games and the story is funny. It has a great feature I haven't seen before, in each area there is a battle counter that counts down with each fight. When it hits 0 you don't get attacked anymore and you can start a fight anytime you want so if you want you can do all the battles at the start of a area then you are free to explore. The developer comments are interesting too!
