About Tears of Avia

✦ AI summary

Assemble a party of diverse characters and battle through turn-based tactical combat in a war-torn world where your choices reshape the story of Estera. Create hundreds of unique skill combinations across five RPG classes to win fights your way while navigating a branching narrative where your moral decisions have real consequences.

Build your party and venture forth to discover the secrets behind long abandoned, ancient cities; and decide where your own morality ultimately lies in this turn-based action strategy game.

Choose a Seeker and Build Your Party
Will you play as honourable Kai, the sceptical hunter Reina, confident Iris, gentle and selfless Momoko or Raul who favours fists over wits? It is on you to choose a Seeker to lead your party and assemble a team of characters all representing traditional RPG classes. As Ranger, Warrior, Mage, Brawler and Priest from both sides of the war work together and war continues to split the land, will camaraderie conquer all or will personal views rip your team apart.

Make Each Fight Your Own
Create your party from five different classes and dozens of playable characters each featuring their own upgrades and levelling trees. By combining hundreds of unique skills, you can ensure victory and due to the unique nature of your party members, you will never have to fight the same battle twice.

Plan Your Strategy
Combine abilities to create powerful combos against your foes or to negate the deadliest attacks. Try combining burn, freeze, stun, cripple and more to obtain your goals, and work with retaliation, redirects, immunities and more to halt the death of your heroes.

You Decide Estera's Fate
Decide your fate with a deep branching narrative and choice-driven decisions. Your actions may lead to an outcome which the world of Estera may not deserve. Should your party feature characters from all sides of the war, opinions may clash and it may not always be for the better ...

The World is Yours to Discover
Estera, a once proud and thriving world, now torn apart by war between its two large city-states: Tirig, the largest military in the land who praise the Gods, and the city state Helmgar, home to the Godless heretics to the north. Explore this stunning world and breathe in the beautiful hand illustrated locations. Venture deep into murky dangerous woods, roam vibrant busy towns and ransack long forgotten tombs, from the dizzying heights of Tower of The Ancients to the harsh lands of Arralash.

You ever get the sense of existential dread when playing a game - not from fear of mortality, impending doom or anything of the sort. I'm talking about the kind that sits in the back of your mind thinking "why am I wasting my time when I could be doing something far more productive?" That weighed heavy during my time with this game. The writing is inane, the story and plot cliched and hackneyed, and the balance is damn near non-existent past the first... thirty minutes or so. That last thing is the nexus of the torment I suffered from this game. You see, this game is ostensibly a tactical RPG - you have a grid in combat, you have stats, skill trees, you have gear. It has all the relevant parts of what it's supposed to be, but throws every single one of those things out the window. Leveling is an exercise in pure mediocrity, as sure, you gain stats and skills from it, but those gains are dwarfed by gains from gear to a level that feels like a joke. You earn a handful of points in each stat on level - I think; however, the game starts barfing loot on you after each level with stats that make gains look miniscule on an exponential level. It's not uncommon to find gear that adds…

It starts out fun, but quickly becomes repetitive and the balancing completely falls apart when you finish the tutorial. Then it becomes a mixture of you one-shotting every enemy in the game and roaming massive cities filled with unmoving NPCs scattered around in giant crowds with zero effort and running past useless buildings that serve no purpose.

Game is completely unbalanced. You get random pieces of gear that have hundreds of points in stats. For example, my starting weapon had 20 attack. Found a ring in the second battle that gave my 200 attack and 400 hp (each character can equip 4 of those). Now i'm one shoting everything and nothing can get past my wall of hp. Skills don't matter because you stats are so high. The only thing you care about is "can it multiple enemies and how far can it reach". In my two hours of play only one encounter made me stop for a second and that because the enemy had reflect (it reflexes X% damage you do back to your character). I took more damage from in that battle from hitting myself then the entire 2 hours. Not a fun mechanic.

I have roller-coaster feelings about this game... Gameplay --- honestly everything is such a mess. There's no side-quest detail for you, you have to discover and guess how to complete it on your own. Combat system is too simple, there's little strategy to fight in each battle, you just walk and spam AoE skill on enemies then heal when necessary. There's no point for leveling up after level 30ish because you cant learn anymore skill, and stats gained are very low compared to stats from equipment which is totally broken, like you get 100 HP from 1 level up but single equipment can give you 8k HP and hunk of 3 other stats, which also let you one shot every minion since the very beginning for the game till the end. There's also a game breaking glitch that made it way easier to beat each battle Graphic --- feel like I was playing PS2 game, the character's movements are somewhat smooth but the ultimate skill cutscenes arent really captivating. 2D art of character portrait is kinda cute though Character --- was thinking this will be the charming point of game but not really, there are a total of 5 classes for all playable characters, but they have the exact same skill chart if th…

Alright so I just finished the game after 27.9 hours and all I can say is it's crap tbh. Only reason I went through it is because I do not like not finishing a game once I start the game. It's like a kickstarter project that scams people into investing then ran away with your money never to been seen again. It's obvious the devs left this game in a very sorry state it's in. The towns are dead with a bunch of copy pasted sprites to make it appear a town is bustling with people in it. Only 1 or 2 or a few later on in the ENTIRE town you can talk to progress with with the story. A generic item shop that sells the very same thing since the start of the game. A so called blacksmith that sells crap. You get more powerful weapons and accesories by finishing levels and you can get absurdly over powered even early on due to the item drops you acquire. And the game's lame attempt to have diverse party members practically does the same thing and I just ended up using the default party members from start to finish. The animations during certain skills are cheaply made, stiff AF lol. Some mission objectives althroughout nothing worth replaying for really, just use AOEs rinse and repeat until th…

It's a nice game, turn-based combat fights and it's fun to get all the objectives on each level getting 3 stars there's a bug where you can't play anymore and you have to reset the level, which is quite frustrating. And the turn-based combat is often too easy since you one-shot everything if you build strong but I still had a good time playing it, not great, but not bad. Wouldn't pay €15 for it though
