Shadows is a truly unique horror experience, and one of the most enjoyable I've played! I love that the game gives you the option to play both as the Shift and now in single-player mode too. It keeps things fresh every time you play — the map layout changes each time, which adds a lot of replayability. My favorite map has to be the carnival. The variety of different carnival games is awesome, and it adds a lot of fun to the spooky atmosphere. The combination of single-player and multiplayer modes makes the game even more exciting and challenging. You should check out the ghost train which is a favourite of mine to always try and beat my previous score! Really looking forward to future updates! Great job to everyone who worked on Shadows!

A Childhood Adventure Turned Nightmare Shadows Are Alive feels like stepping back into the wild imaginations of childhood—only darker, more dangerous, and with far higher stakes. I played alongside my friends Aussievonwolf and Aydanvonwolf, and together we dove headfirst into a world that thrives on unpredictability. The game constantly threw us into eerie, atmospheric locations: a haunted mansion dripping with dread, a carnival twisted with sinister energy, and shadowy paths where every corner felt like a trap waiting to spring. Teamwork and Alter Egos At its core, this isn’t your typical hide-and-seek horror. Each of us stepped into alter ego roles that brought unique abilities to the table—whether it was a firefighter’s courage, a lockpicker’s precision, a psychologist’s insight, or an inventor’s resourcefulness. These powers weren’t just cosmetic; they were essential. The game rewards creativity and teamwork, pushing players to combine skills in clever ways to survive. The Ever-Present Threat: The Shift Of course, no adventure like this would be complete without a monster lurking in the dark. Enter The Shift, a relentless entity that stalks you from the shadows. The way it…

Shadows Are Alive is like if a haunted mansion and a Saturday morning cartoon had a creepy little baby 👻🖤 It’s spooky, adorable, and full of jumpy fun—all the thrill without the buckets of gore from Dead by Daylight. The shape-shifting rooms keep you on edge, the alter egos are a blast, and honestly? It’s proof you can make horror that’s cute, gothic, and fun for all ages. A perfect mix of cobwebs, chaos, and cuddly screams.

Shadows Are Alive is an asymmetrical hide-and-seek–style horror game where one player controls a shadow creature and the others try to complete tasks and stay out of its reach. It’s meant to be a more “friendly” take on the genre — less gore, more spooky fun — with a shifting mechanic that lets you move in and out of shadow form to hunt down the kids exploring the environment. Pros ✔️ A genuinely cute idea -The concept of a softer, more playful asymmetric horror is honestly refreshing. Not every multiplayer scarefest needs buckets of blood, and this leans into the “spooky but charming” angle in a fun way. ✔️ Unique gameplay potential - There’s a real spark here. The shadow shifting mechanic opens the door for some interesting strategies, and the whole setup feels like it could become a more accessible, family-friendly alternative to the usual genre heavy-hitters. ✔️ The “shift” mechanic is fun - The act of swapping between states — shadow to physical form — has personality. Even in its rougher spots, the idea behind it stands out as the most interesting part of the game. Cons ❌ Animations and gameplay feel early — like, very early - Movements are stiff, ticks are noticeable, and …

*don't skip the tutorial* Played this from the alpha stages and won a key to the full release, it's got a lot of promise & the visual/audio are insane! It's shiny so there's the odd bug but the Devs are on it and reactive, last feedback they'd fixed stuff in two days. Liking the introduction of an AI shift (protagonist) so you can single player it while your friends hit the tutorial. Lots of cool stuff and replayability to beat your friends escape times!
