Since its past 14 days and i cant get a refund this game is getting a thumbs down from me, I cant even play an hour of this game, its just so bad. Combat sucks, story is so boring it does nothing to get your attention. Even the grapihs are grainy and look poorly optimised I honestly dont know where the positive reviews come from, its nothing like what is previed on the steam store page Over all a major step down from the two prevous games, The Samuri exposition is also a very bad game (Woke) i would abandion this series for now

X-com meets the Roman empire Whats there not to like?

TL;DR this way too long, has many very poorly thought out mechanics and feels like it has never been playtested. No, the game has some major issues and major annoyances it needs to fix before I recommend buying it. One example is how every time you want to conquer a region you have to do a very boring turn based 6V6 mission. And often times you have to use your B-team which can be annoying since you can not exactly choose them on their skills/class, you need to choose them often based on their perks Which serves as annoying gameplay mechanic especially since theyre often underlevelled. But this is by design because this game was made by apes. When you end the first act the game briefly tells you you have to make 2 teams. They give an EXTREMELY vague description of what they should do which directly becomes irrelevant. Since their tasks are only for the first of the 3 Battles they partake in. Their damage carries over and if they got downed they will join the new level with 1Hp... Not a lot of characters can actually heal so this is a very annoying character. This didnt happen with me but if you barely made the first levels that means you will be stuck completing the rest with 1 h…

What I like about the game is the voice acting and the attention to detail with proper Roman Latin pronunciations for names, titles, and locations. The characters are written great and I like the gameplay loop with how it feels like you are an actual Roman Legate commanding a legion. I like how the game presents itself with your character taking the place of Caesar and how your rival always feels one step ahead of you in each act, with your character slowly catching up to their schemes. Another thing I appreciate is how every companion has a distinct personality and that the game on normal is thankfully not too difficult if you know how to position your men and equip them properly. Final thing I like is how playing as a female Legate feels distinct with Roman characters initially being surprised when they learn that a woman was leading a legion. The only complaints I have are that the end of act 1 with the siege is a little frustrating with health and damage to your characters carrying over between each phase of the siege, the negative events that randomly injure your Praetorians, and the morale management of your legion.

Story is great and compelling. Turn-based tactics and RPG elements of you and your companions (skills, weapons upgrades, etc.) are well-done. There is a slightly high "Administration to Action" ratio, with lots of trips back to outposts to heal companions, refresh supplies, etc. But overall its a terrific game.
