The Darkside Detective

Great game with great puns.

This is a series of nine point-and-click adventure game minisodes (similar to the Strongbad games if you've played those): You control Detective Francis McQueen in all the episodes; he's (almost) always accompanied by his idiot, conspiracy theorist partner Officer Dooley; and some of the supporting cast recurs but you there's no overarching plot and inventory doesn't carry over. Episode eight is the shortest and takes around 5 minutes but they generally run 10-20 minutes. The episode concept is a neat way of keeping the maps small and inventory management manageable. It also makes the game skew pretty easy. For a supernatural-themed game, there are few "moon logic" puzzles and just clicking on items often gives you a hint about what you're supposed to use it for or, for example, if you try to combine two things but you're missing an intermediate step it'll say "good idea but I need a way to keep it from falling off" rather than "I can't do that". With adventure games there's always a fine line between needing to give peanuts and mice to an elephant and putting the red key in the red door and it is what it is. Super entertaining and funny, and did not require any motor skills from me. Also, the graphics are pretty. 10/10 would recommend.

A charming retro point-and-click game with witty and self aware humor.

A detective game with magic element is a blasting matchup. The game is good, just as you expect some solution might be a little weird and hard to find. Still a good game. Big Shout out to the French localisation that is insane and very funny.
