About Dead Age

✦ AI summary

Lead a band of survivors through a zombie apocalypse using turn-based tactical combat, scavenging, crafting, and tough moral choices that reshape the story with real consequences. Manage your camp's resources and defenses across multiple runs, earning permanent upgrades and unlocking six different endings based on how you treat your allies and navigate the chaos.

Survive the zombie apocalypse with turn-based combat and permanent death! Manage survivors, go on dangerous scavenging runs, build alliances, craft equipment, make difficult story-influencing decisions, defend your camp against undead hordes and experience non-linear rogue-lite elements. An innovative Indie Survival-RPG!

Just after the zombie outbreak you were fortunate enough to join a group of survivors and hole up in their camp.
But that doesn't set you out of danger! Food supplies are running low, injured survivors must be tended to and materials need to be scavenged to keep the camp intact.
The zombie threat increases steadily and gangs of hostile survivors keep you on the defensive.

Every survivor should be protected because you'll need all hands on deck to defend against the dangers of the apocalypse.
Scavenge supplies in zombie-infested areas, craft survival gear and buy and sell equipment to keep yourself and your camp members alive long enough to learn the skills necessary for long-term survival.
The combat system has its roots in classic role-playing games. You can fight strategically, learn to utilize various weapon types and use a range of bombs or traps.

Should you fail to survive the apocalypse, you can purchase upgrades with medals earned in previous playthroughs to give your new character an edge to start with.
Unlocked pre-apocalypse professions of your character allow you to specialize in various jobs.
Each new playthrough offers different random missions and survivors to meet.

A praised feature of Dead Age is its non-linear story with real in-game consequences. Decisions you make in conflict situations affect the story's future.
You can choose to be a hero and save more survivors, or let them die to stock up on supplies. You can build romance relationships with other survivors or start rivalries that may have disastrous chain reactions.
Daily events offer new dangers and situations in which you must make choices that affect the survival chances of your camp.
Live long enough, and you'll have a chance to unlock one of the game's six possible endings.

A solid indie mix of turn-based RPG combat and zombie apocalypse survival management. Scavenging for resources, making tough moral choices, and positioning your party for tactical combat loops keep things engaging, even if repetitive grind and minor balancing issues hold it back from greatness.

Score: 3/5 A tedious, overly difficult and RNG-based management + turn-based combat + RPG game that doesn't have enough going for it. I'd much rather play Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead or Darkest Dungeon. Writing is okay, but not engaging enough to carry the other parts of the game. Combat is the majority of the game, and it's boring and repetitive. To be successful you need to use firearms. You will not get enough crafting components from using them to justify using the bullets. Enemies do very little damage, but you have to face 5-20 groups each taking 5-10 minutes to get past, each draining resources and slowly draining health while most zombies have absurd defensive stats. Each of these random combat encounters rewards one or a small handful of 1 type of item/crafting component. I never earned more resources in the field than I spent sending my team out. I only got ahead from the scripted quests and some lucky random events when I returned to camp. Moderately high difficulty with what appears to be a min-max meta strategy. Very limited options for preventing moderate losses from random events in the field and less so at base because you can have people on guard duty. Crafting req…

A good little turn-based management game with an interesting variety of endings. The gameplay itself is not particularly difficult, and there is quite a lot to enjoy at first. Unfortunaly, it becomes very repetitive very quickly. 100% steam achievements Time : 63.4H Completion Difficulty : 5/10 Playthroughs : 6 minimun Missables : None Guide Recommended : Yes - strongly for the different endings Notable requirements : obtaint all 6 endings, complete all romances, and experience various RNG-dependent events.

It's a fun survival base building sim with TBS combat. Add some romance and fun artwork and what's not to like? It can get a bit tedious, so take it in small doses to increase enjoyment.
