About Beyond Reality

✦ AI summary

Travel back two thousand years with a modern research team accidentally transported to a pristine past world, where you'll uncover the truth behind an ancient war through tactical turn-based combat and exploration across the Kingdom of Jastamune. With over 50 enemies to battle, dozens of weapons to discover, and a branching story filled with side-quests, this 6-8 hour RPG blends environmental mystery with strategic gameplay as you race to prevent a catastrophe that would shape the world's future.

Travel Beyond the Reality You've Always Known.

Two thousand years ago, the Kingdom of Jastamune was thrust into a war, the only survivor being a magician known as Reverent Sulada. In a last-ditch effort to save the Kingdom, she encases herself in magic and sleeps for two thousand years, eventually being unearthed by the Alpha Omega Company, dedicated to researching the implications of their pollution-filled world.

As she is freed from her magical spell, nobody knows what to make of her, and the leader of the company - La'lele - refuses to help at first. However, she, as well as many of her other employees, are magically transported to the past by Sulada, much to her chagrin. Despite her dismay, the world of the past is pollution-free - a perfect opportunity for study, to the delight of the company's research leader, Faryl.

As research begins, La'lele and her companions try to complete their mission as quickly as possible, but quickly realise their situation is much more dire than it thought to be, when they discover who they are fighting against...

Explore the land of Jastamune through the eyes of the leader of the Alpha Omega Company - and put a stop to the war that changed the world two thousand years ago!

- Battle over 50 different enemies, including hidden and powerful bosses.
- Unearth at least 30 different types of weapons and armour to aid you in battle.
- Take part in side-quests as well as the main quest, aiming to heighten your team's strength and powers.
- On-map encounters: don't let yourselves be caught out by ambushes!
- Between six and eight hours of gameplay, an in-depth story and a tactical, turn-based battle system.

This game is ... soulless. Technically bad, a little bit, it has very limited settings and took me lowering the sound effects volume as a suggestion and ignored it. Also, some simple dialogue errors like have "emphasize" where it was clearly supposed to be "empathize". Missing some basic RPG staples like a quest journal too For my personal tastes, the game had so much working against it. The plot felt poorly thought out, the characters were anime cliches, the dialogue seemed to press against the fourth wall "She just cast an S rank spell!", and there was almost no statistical difference between the party members. Two are literally no different past the portrait and name. And somehow past all that it managed to be really boring. It's not the worst thing I've ever played, but it isn't good. 3/10.

🎮 Beyond Reality Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) The Good: 😄 Humorous gameplay with a relaxed difficulty curve. Not overly difficult to pick up and play. ⏱️ Ideal length for shorter gaming sessions. Enjoyable without demanding hours of commitment. 💰 Frequently goes on sale for just a few euros. Won't break the bank. 🌍 Interesting Environmental Angle. The time-travel premise raises an environmental theme. It's a shame we can't reverse real-world pollution quite like we can in the game. Adds a nice layer of reflection beyond the humor. The Bad: 💾 Resolution feels somewhat low out of the box. 🎛️ Display Settings Clunky. To enlarge the display, you need to adjust FX settings using keyboard buttons. A bit inconvenient to manage. Verdict: Beyond Reality delivers what it promises. A genuinely funny experience that's straightforward to learn and perfect for casual gaming sessions. The time-travel environmental theme adds depth without taking away from the fun. Recommendation: Worth grabbing when it's on discount. Solid choice for light entertainment that respects your time and budget. ✅

Beyond Reality, developed by EternalShadow Studios and published by Aldorlea Games, is a story-focused role-playing game that blends fantasy storytelling with science fiction concepts to create an adventure centered around time, consequence, and the fragile balance between technology and nature. Built around traditional RPG design principles, the game embraces classic turn-based systems while introducing a narrative that reaches across centuries. Rather than limiting itself to familiar fantasy themes, it builds a world where ancient magic and futuristic ideas collide, creating an experience driven more by exploration and storytelling than spectacle. The narrative begins with a catastrophe rooted in the distant past. Thousands of years before the main events unfold, a devastating war destroys the Kingdom of Jastamune, forcing powerful individuals to make desperate choices in order to survive. One of those survivors, the magician Reverent Sulada, escapes destruction through magical preservation only to awaken centuries later in a world transformed by scientific advancement and environmental decline. The future she enters feels unfamiliar and unstable, shaped by pollution, technologi…

Really good game, great on the steam deck, not that hard and okay story.

I'll give it a 7.5/10. Pretty decent for what you expect from a rpg maker game. Pretty short, but it has the classic jrpg feel. Characters are quite likable. I personally liked the artstyle, I'm hoping it's not ai made. Difficulty around medium, monsters aren't too tough but aren't pansies either. Only gripe is, there's a bug with screen resoultion and controller support not fully working.
