the animations and character designs are very B-movie styled like many other of microids works the story isn't actually about nessie but rather about the submarine below the "monster" and other things about crystals, a trisket, and destroying england the movement seems pretty good, the camera moves with the cursor and the cursor will change whenever it hovers over items of note, the icons are pretty clear about if you are the correct things or not, and it will be clear about what items you can and can't combine overall, there are only a few actual puzzles and they stick out strangely in this game of walking, and improper use of roman numerals as well there can still be a good bit of searching as there are plenty of places to explore even if you can't go into most of them, but the game can still feel like a maze since the rooms with no more value stay open for the most part the game is fine, but wasn't of much note, didn't feel like the time was well spent walking around

An enjoyably peculiar little romp, brought down by illogical puzzle design, and brought right back up again by some of the ugliest computer people I've ever seen. Technologically ambitious for a game from 1996, or at least it would be if it were not, in fact, from 2001. ProTip: To avoid game-breaking bugs, play it in SCUMMvm.

The Cameron Files: The Secret at Loch Ness, developed and published by Microids, is a first-person point-and-click adventure that captures the spirit of early 2000s mystery games—both in its strengths and its shortcomings. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Scotland’s most famous legend, it invites players into a slow-burning investigation that blends detective work with supernatural intrigue. While modern players may find some of its design choices dated, it remains a compelling example of classic adventure storytelling driven by exploration and puzzle-solving. The game follows private investigator Alan Parker Cameron, who travels to Scotland after receiving a mysterious letter tied to his family’s past. What begins as a straightforward inquiry quickly evolves into a layered mystery involving a reclusive aristocrat, strange experiments, and whispers of something lurking beneath the waters of Loch Ness. The narrative leans heavily into gothic and scientific themes, weaving folklore with speculative ideas in a way that keeps the player curious, even if the pacing occasionally falters. The story unfolds gradually, relying on environmental clues, documents, and conversations rat…

A qualified 'yes'. It's got a great story to it and it is very very absorbing. Lovely locale...good though sparse dialogues. It is addictive...and who doesn't like Nessie? Now the negatives are the timing, which kill you without fairness.
