About IACTURA

It is your job to save the planet from its decay. Only you can prevent an extraterrestrial species from taking over all of humankind.
How? By shooting them back to where they belong - into the depths of hell of course!

Features:

  • A normal play mode with a final, great enemy to defeat
  • Unlock "Hard mode" where endless waves of enemies await you
  • Local coop mode with 3 classes for your partner
  • Each coop class has a unique skill
  • Random spawning enemies in hard mode
  • Random encounters with mini bosses in hard mode
  • Unlock achievements
  • Top your highscore
  • Retro style!

So basically, this is a retro themed arcade shooter. You can't learn 100% where enemies will spawn, and most times you will have to react directly to what you are seeing on screen. There is no "save spot" or something.
I will release updates with small improvements, changes or fixes at any time I can. ;D

✦ AI summary

IACTURA is a minimalist retro-style shoot 'em up that appeals to players seeking old-school arcade simplicity and high-score challenges. However, the game suffers from technical shortcomings including lack of graphics options, no resolution settings, and basic Flash-game quality graphics that may not display properly on modern systems. While some appreciate its nostalgic arcade feel and straightforward gameplay, others find it lacks depth and content, feeling more like an unfinished template than a fully realized gaming experience.

IACTURA is a basic "template" flip, a 2D top down twin stick shooter made from copying a template in ClickTeam Fusion. It's not a real game, just a copy of a demo/template, with no real value or merit as a real game for gamers. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this g…

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…

IACTURA, developed and published by Merlin Beer, is a retro-inspired shoot ’em up that channels the spirit of the classic arcade era with a modern indie sensibility. It is a compact and unapologetically straightforward experience that embraces simplicity while offering enough challenge to test reflexes and coordination. At its core, the game is about endurance—facing relentless waves of alien attackers, surviving chaos, and carving a place among the stars through quick reactions and precision. While its scale and presentation are modest, IACTURA succeeds in delivering an intense, focused experience that feels like a throwback to the golden days of the arcade without resorting to imitation. It captures the thrill of fighting against overwhelming odds with little more than your wits, your weapon, and a stubborn determination to push forward. The premise is direct but evocative: an alien invasion threatens humanity, and your task is to blast these invaders back into the depths of space—or, as the game humorously puts it, “back to where they belong, into the depths of hell.” There is no elaborate backstory or cinematic introduction to explain the world; instead, the narrative is conve…
