About Psyche Soldier VR

Got skill? Like dynamic action? Then Psyche Soldier VR is for you... and will take you to battles inside the psychedelic realm of your subconscious, tackling shadow creatures using five different Caster light-energy attacks, a channel ability, a spotlight, and an active Power Up. Challenge yourself!

Description
What if renowned Psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, were to have made a Virtual Reality game? It would have been something like Psyche Soldier VR.

Psyche Soldier VR is a challenging, truly dynamic, duck-and-dodge shooting gallery game that takes place in the player's subconscious. Players cast light energy to battle against the shadow aspects of their psyche in seven different themed missions: Agency, Attachment, Fear, Procrastination, Shame, Stress, and Perfection. Each mission features unique enemies related to the theme along with a challenging Boss Fight! In addition, there is a Secret Boss Fight! There's even a dog you can play fetch with in the menu area, who can also appear as an energy form in the subconscious to save the player from failure.

Unlike games with a passive shield, the action-based Power Up ability is both defensive and offensive -- surrounding, protecting, increasing damage, and strengthening slowing power with the press of a button. Add that to the five Caster abilities, the Spotlight slow, the Energy Collect channel ability, the fluid energy system, and the 18 different enemy types, and what you get is an on-the-fly strategic and athletic game that truly uses the dual controller and room scale aspects of VR, making it unlike any other!

There is an experience-based upgrade system to empower your abilities and chances, and four difficulties to test your skill: Easy, Normal, Mentalist, and Psychonaut. There's also an infinite wave Endurance mode with a leaderboard where you can see how deep into your subconscious and how high up the ranks you can go!

Features
  • Shoot-and-dodge in this truly dynamic and fun game
  • Activate your Power Up for an exciting rush
  • Experience the time distorting Psychic Slow-Mo
  • Play 7 missions, 18 different enemies, and 8 unique Boss Fights
  • Entertain yourself in near-invincible "Easy" difficulty for an enlightening experience
  • Challenge yourself in "Normal," "Mentalist," and "Psychonaut" difficulties
  • Rise in the Leaderboard with the endless "Endurance Mode"
  • Earn experience and improve your powers with 18 upgrades
  • Play fetch with a dog or break glass jars in the menu area

Story
Long ago, there was a time when happiness came easily, stress was alien, and life was an adventure.

At some point, the tables turned; happiness became fleeting, stress more common than air, and life—life began to feel like a cruel joke—a bleak existence that gradually crept into your psyche.

You didn't even know the shadows of your psyche were amassing like an army! How could you have known? How could anyone know? They couldn't even be seen until now! Sure, they could be felt; migraines, neck pain, back pain—all distractions! Physical distractions that enable avoidance of your emotional pain, your darkest fears, and your inner most secrets, in other words your psyche shadows.

These unnerving shadows live and take form in your subconscious, affecting your thoughts and feelings daily, just out of your awareness. Although they once served you well, they've grown malevolent and overwhelmingly powerful.

You must conquer and convert them! Where they thrive just out of mind's reach, you must cast your light energy. These are the shadow battles of your subconscious—in the war of your enlightenment.

Go forth hero! Face your dark side. Face your shadows.

Oh, and one more thing... It's dangerous to go alone! But you must...

WTF ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ this is the strangest and freakiest game I have played in VR. It's like that time when Jim Morrison and I did peyote in the desert and I rode on Big birds back while wearing a nappy and flowers in my hair, but weirder. At first, I thought yeah more VR ♥♥♥♥ but once I got past the tutorial I could see how much thought and effort has gone into this game. It's a 'wave' shooter but in a very well done way, the levels are the Human psyche and you are battling the demons that inhabit it. It's very indie and somewhat amateurish but that's what makes it good. May just be me who likes weird ♥♥♥♥ but I love a game that tries something different from the norm. Well done Dev for coming to VR with something more than zombies, shooters and escape the room games. I appreciate the time and effort and mainly the thought process for this game. It's not going to be for everyone but if you want something a little different and strange then this may be for you.

Psyche Soldier is a wave shooter with many neat and diverse enemies, player attacks/progressions, and will give you a work out - all encompased by the really neat idea of fighting your worst personality traits. Each mission is based on a trait that we all deal with - Procrastination, fear, pefectionism, etc - with corresponding inner demon type enemies that visual and audibly represent that trait, while you the player take them on harnessing your inner light power. The bosses at the end of the waves are even more explicitly descriptive of the selected trait, and are quite the puzzle to defeat. Always rewarding when finally accomplished. Most VR Wave Shooters don't require a ton of movement in their playthroughs, and while in this one you still stand in one area, you'll be dodging and maneuvering around the enemie attacks, pulling out your Energy Shield to block those you can't dodge, all while having to take note of where each enemy is, what type it is, and what best way to be using your Spot Light beam and your Caster types to effectively destroy those inner demons. It's definitely more complex than most wave shooters of "here are my guns, here are my enemies, they must meet" - a…

I found the game very enjoyable and definitely great for both single play and with friends/family. Its fast paced and really gets you moving, an aspect I really enjoyed coming from a game. I also thought the slow motion was awesome, felt like I was in the Matrix or something. The game was difficult at first, but once you get comfortable and remember the right buttons, it really opens up and becomes really great. Don't freak out if you suck the first round, it gets really fun really fast is all I'm saying. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you want to mess around with some friends. Super funny watching people dodge and dance around.

Psyche Soldier is an incredibly fun and thoughtfully put together game. I would 100% recommend this VR game. Psyche Soldier's unique premise is captured quite well because of how in each level I actually experience through the voices and the types of shadows encountered that negative psyche I am trying to conquer. The movement required at each level is just right and exhilarating. With shadows approaching in many directions, there is never a dull moment. As a player in the game, I used light emanating from one hand to keep the dark shadows at bay as they tried to take me down, and I used the other hand to cast energy to take the shadows down. The game really requires in-the-moment strategy adjustments that have you constantly looking around, moving your light, changing your casters, and moving your body to dodge attacks by the shadows. It's not a mindless game; the constant strategy adjustment and dodging aspects are so much fun. I enjoyed the game so much I had not realized how long I had played it, and I experienced a "longing" to play the game afterwards. This game captures why VR should take-off and highlights the benefits of VR: an action-packed game with a worthwhi…

Psyche Soldier VR is a virtual reality action game developed and published by Single Step Games that attempts to do more than simply place players in another shooting gallery. Instead of focusing on aliens, robots, or military conflicts, the game builds its entire premise around psychological concepts and personal struggles. Players enter a surreal mental landscape where emotions, fears, and destructive habits become physical threats. This unusual foundation immediately helps the game stand apart from many indie VR shooters, giving the experience a more distinctive identity than its modest budget might initially suggest. The game's campaign is structured around a series of missions inspired by different aspects of the human psyche. Themes such as fear, shame, stress, procrastination, attachment, perfectionism, and personal agency serve as the backbone of the adventure. Rather than presenting these ideas through lengthy storytelling sequences, the game translates them into enemy encounters, environments, and boss battles. While the narrative remains relatively straightforward, the thematic focus gives the action a sense of purpose and cohesion that many arcade-style VR titles often…
