About Astraeus

Astraeus is a VR asteroid mining RTS game that's quick to play, easy to learn, and enormous in scope. Build a mining network from dozens of bases, and watch as hundreds of ships swarm around you in a dazzling web of light.

In the near future, dozens of companies are operating in the asteroid belt, fighting for their share of the biggest gold rush in history. Your job is to control swarms of mining drones, build a network of bases, and outpace the competition. Or crush them.

Astraeus was created as the winning entry in the Qualcomm VR Developer Challenge, an online reality show for VR development. It is the fourth VR strategy game from E McNeill, along with Darknet, Tactera, and Skylight.

The next generation game for fans of Eufloria. While more abstract, gameplay consists of missions resembling Homeworld's tactical map. A true, addictive crack gem. 4X whittled to the bone. A virtuoso use of VR.

A short, but fun campaign. While this game doesn't take advantage of VR as much as you might wish, it is still a solid, cute, and quick game worth a whirl.

Pretty fun game concept, not too hard, not too easy. The campaign is really just a tutorial and ends after about 2 hours which you can keep going if you want. All in all it's an interesting concept

Astraeus is a compact yet ambitious real-time strategy game that rethinks the genre through the lens of virtual reality. Developed and published by E McNeill, the game places players not above a battlefield, but inside it, surrounding them with glowing asteroid networks, flowing resource lines, and swarms of ships fighting for control. Rather than attempting to replicate traditional RTS complexity wholesale, Astraeus focuses on clarity, spatial intuition, and rapid decision-making, resulting in a strategy experience that feels distinctively shaped by VR rather than merely adapted to it. The central concept revolves around controlling an asteroid belt where each asteroid functions as a strategic node. From the earliest moments, players are tasked with deciding how to specialize each rock—whether to mine valuable Finitum, generate power to sustain the network, or manufacture ships for offense and defense. These roles are simple on their own, but their interdependence quickly creates meaningful tension. Power must flow efficiently across your territory, mining operations must be protected, and production hubs must be positioned to respond to enemy incursions. Because everything is vi…

I think for a under $5 game is about right. I think it has a cool and unique idea, the interface isn't bad, but the logistics in seeing planets differentiating, organization, etc... Just felt like it wasn't quite there. I think it has a great chance just needs more polishing.
