Angelo and Deemon: One Hell of a Quest

I didn't love this game, didn't hate it, but I don't think I would recommend it except on a good discount. It was a short point and click adventure game, with relatively easy achievements, a nice art style, and interesting premise but it fell short in too many areas for me. There was one scene with a bit of a satirical version of a current political figure that surprised me and kind of put me off actually with the current political climate in the US. Recommended. A reference-dense point-and-click descent through a satirical Hell led by a dead vlogger chasing content, and the jokes land nearly every time. The Tab-highlight system surfaces every interaction cleanly, and the Sarah reminder tool on the smartphone gives hints most adventures refuse to offer, keeping soft-walls from hardening. The photograph-everything vlogger verb turns sightseeing into the sharpest running gag, and the puzzle chain (microwave-apple-magnet charging, a soul-swap journal, coffee-machine sabotage, a TNT-clown finale) stays inventive throughout. Static-image transitions snap awkwardly between scenes, worst on the island boat, the obnoxious-protagonist voice is true to form rather than pleasant, and a stray rocket-chair visual bug and a fake-out ending that reads like a defect both muddy the polish. Judge the writing on its density and aim, and the rough edges become easy to forgive.
