really wanted to like this--regency demons?? are you kidding me???--but the game is too buggy by far. The stats glitch and make it unplayable, unfortunately :-(

Exellent victorian gotic horror game that lives up to its label. It is a bit short and especally the "woods"-faction feels underdevelopt compared to the town or the demons, but the story never feels as if somethings missing. Choices matter greatly, the characters interact wonderfull and you can shape many different outcomes, either for your PC or the town. Many different endings, including several bad ones that arent surprising or sudden, as they come logically from your choices. Especially great is the atmosphere. The whole small town dances on a vulcano and nows it, but only few people want to do something about it and the town rather ignore the demons and their slaves and continue with their victorian small-town events and gossip. You can feel througly alone or shunned, strive to be a hero or sell everyone out and live with the consequences and have a tragical romance on top. Truly a great choice game.

I hate that steams review feature is only positive or negative, because this definitely fell somewhere in the middle for me. The writing and setting felt great as did the main characters you interacted with. I did have a few issues with things being said or missed that I had or had not done at times especially the ending. Personally as well I don't think the story was for me though I could easily see someone more into the theme loving the story.

Very much has the vibe of a Regency novel; it's pretty clear what your choices will do and the stats are easy to understand. Well-structured and well-written; definitely one of the better offerings from Choice Of.

This is just what I was looking for, elements of political intrigue, charm, and supernatural mystery interweave to create an enjoyable experience with a strong pace of plot. It moves a little quickly in places, and I would've liked more time with the characters, especially the romances, so that the relationships felt more fleshed out and grounded, but it's already 170,000 words for only 11 chapters. This is the challenge with multiple-choice stories sadly. Overall, and excellent piece of work in my opinion, and totally worth buying/playing. 8/10
