Angvik

Rating: 6/10 Summary: A fun little Rogue-like platformer with decent replayability, unfortunately let down at times by some frustrating mechanics and the bad kind of 'random'. On the surface, Angvik offers 6 classes. However, for 5 of them the only difference is your starting equipment, and given this may only last you the first level or two, the gameplay is essentially identical for these classes (starting gear matters more on harder difficulties... more on that in a sec). The final class is the Peasant class, which is essentially a no-hit run... fortunately I enjoy this kind of challenge once I get familiar with a game, but if you're not one of these people then heed this warning. You're never forced to play any particular class, so you can avoid Peasant unless you're trying for 100% completion. There are [spoiler]6[/spoiler] levels in total. Level layout doesn't change from run to run, so with time you'll become quite slick at navigating the terrain with ease, which is quite satisfying. The experience is kept fresh by randomised enemy placement, and the ever-present gaming trope of finding decent loot for that good ol' dopamine hit. With time, you'll realise that some weapons …

I love this game, i even pre-ordered it. Bit of a fan of Alastair John Jack. Have like 10-20 hours in it, mostly in offline and win most of the time. It's cute, and simple, Angvik 2 does a lot to expand and make it more consistent an experience. But i still come back and revisit Angvik 1 for some fun occasionally. Definitively worth playing, even at full price.

This is the beginning of a legend. It is difficult, but you can progress while referencing other people's plays. A lot of replayability at a low price.

Good 2D precision platformer. I like this a lot, especially as a Mega Man fan. There are some fun secrets, and learning how to use all the items and weapons effectively was very satisfying. It's short and simple but can take a while to get to learn the inner workings of the whole game.

A Platformer where you get your armor by items on the ground. Quite a funny idea. Unfortunately it´s souls like. So you either will die and die and die and die and die and die and probably don´t come very far. Or this is your genre and you have fun with it. I can´t blame it for being a souls like game. But you definetely should base your buying decision on that fact.
