Ame no Marginal -Rain Marginal-

very pleasant and comforting vn. ^-^

This visual novel is short but interesting story in a short period of time. It also isn't exactly light-hearted. Although it has screen resolution issues for me, as I cannot view it in full screen properly but it didn't affect my experience that much. The story is about and mostly set on a parallel world in which there is nothing but an eternal rain that bathes everything. In there, you do not starve, you do not thirst, above all, you cannot die. The story begins with the start of a man that just wants to die but hesitates to do so and the past of a little girl who cannot be apologetic to the gods so she becomes remorseful (I think?). But soon it will be evident that these two are going to be connected as they are two different stories that touch on events that will then intertwine in the final part. However, while I do like the music quite a lot but it kinda gets repetitive and I have gripe with some visuals like that one time where [spoiler]the umbrella got fixed by the male mc but it is still shown as broken, and I cannot see the shoe being fixed as well but that might just be a me issue.[/spoiler]

The developer made the effort to add Steam Trading Cards, but couldn’t be bothered to add any Steam achievements. For a visual novel focused so heavily on its story, characters and choices, there were plenty of opportunities for simple achievements for reaching important story moments, completing the game, or seeing different outcomes. Even a small achievement list would have been appreciated by achievement hunters. It’s disappointing to see Trading Cards supported while achievements are completely missing.

A bittersweet short story filled with genre-typical elements of the supernatural. Best when bought on sale or as a pack of short stories.
