Death In Abyss

The least fun game I've ever desperately wanted to beat. I can't tolerate the hand cramps anymore. It's really cool, don't play it.

Raw, abrasive, and extremely hostile. ♥♥♥♥ realism. Throw me into the depths of the unknown space and make me survive against cosmic horrors beyond my poor human comprehension. Creating unique experiences is what gaming is all about.

Smooth fast paced movement combined with arcade style shooting. Great environmental and sound design. Difficult enough to be a challenge and push the player to come up with their own strategies in beating bosses and levels. Anybody who is into chaotic shooters should get this game.

Very fun, fast, and snappy gameplay with a wonderfully creepy atmosphere. Just be aware that it is difficult as hell. You really need to lock in to get through some of the bosses.

Overall really solid hardcore 3-D arcade shooter. Didn't think it was ever unfairly difficult once I got the hang of it, but it was still challenging enough that I would have a hard time recommending it to most people. My only real issue with the game was a cutscene right before the final boss [spoiler] depicting an explicit and somewhat graphic humanoid/monster-like birth [/spoiler]. This cutscene kinda came out of left field and it didn't really feel like it added anything outside of a gross-out moment. [spoiler] Personally, I felt like if you wanted to keep that moment for the narrative, move the camera away as the birth is happening, and cut back to the Moth-boss carrying the Baby, better to leave it up to the player's imagination imo. Death In Abyss takes the familiar foundations of an arcade flight shooter and plunges them into an environment that feels hostile, alien, and increasingly nightmarish. Rather than soaring through open skies or futuristic cities, the player moves through extraterrestrial seas where strange organisms and enormous unidentified creatures occupy the darkness. Developed and published by Agelvik, the game combines inspirations from classics such as Star Fox 64, Devil Daggers, and Omega Boost while reshaping those influences into a fast, difficult action-horror experience. Its strongest quality is how naturally its high-speed mechanics work alongside the oppressive atmosphere of deep-sea horror. Movement forms the heart of the gameplay. The craft feels designed around constant motion, rapid changes of direction, and aggressive maneuvering rather than cautious positioning. Hostile lifeforms can approach quickly and in numbers, forcing the player to remain aware of threats coming from different directions. Dodging attacks while maintaining a clear line of fire becomes an essential skill, and the freedom of movement makes combat feel more like aerial dogfighting transplanted into an alien oc…
