About The Outer Worlds 2

The Outer Worlds 2 is the eagerly-awaited sequel to the award-winning first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment (just look at the exciting number of dashes in this sentence!). Time to clear your calendar – get ready for an action-packed adventure with a new crew, new weapons, and new enemies in a new colony! So much newness! As a daring and most likely good-looking Earth Directorate agent, you must uncover the source of devastating rifts threatening to destroy all of humanity. Your investigation leads to Arcadia, home of skip drive technology, where the fate of the colony, and ultimately the entire galaxy, rests on your decisions—your strengths, your flaws, your crew, and the factions you choose to trust. The Arcadia colony is engulfed in a factional war, as the Protectorate’s so-called benevolent rule is challenged by the rebellion of their religious order and a corporate invasion. As destructive rifts spread across the colony, each faction fights to control or close them for their own ends. Navigate diverse zones, uncover hidden lore, and shape the fate of a system on the brink!Build your character with the abilities and choices that reflect your playstyle. The colony reacts to your every move, crafting a narrative that’s yours to own—whether you’re a disciple of diplomacy, an astute strategist, a crusader for chaos, or something different altogether. And yes, you can dumb!Recruit companions with unique traits, backgrounds and goals. Whether you choose to help them achieve their ambitions or steer them toward your own objectives, your influence shapes their growth (or death), making them an integral part of the immersive story you create together.High Fidelity GraphicsExplore Arcadia with stunning visual detail. The Outer Worlds 2 supports true 4K resolution on compatible devices and unlocked framerates on PC, delivering smooth performance across sprawling alien landscapes, neon-lit cities, and fractured space environments. Ray TracingRay tracing adds depth and realism across Arcadia. From glowing rift anomalies to the reflections of neon signs on rain-soaked streets, advanced lighting, shadows, and reflections create a more dynamic and immersive experience.DLSS, FSR, and XeSS SupportPlay with optimized performance across the board. The Outer Worlds 2 supports NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS upscaling, ensuring sharp visuals and higher frame rates no matter your GPU. HDRStep into Arcadia with high dynamic range support. HDR enhances contrast and color depth across compatible displays, making every neon light, alien sky, and weapon blast more vivid and lifelike. Ultra-wide SupportSee more of Arcadia with ultra-wide 21:9 display support. From massive corporate facilities to the vastness of space, a wider field of view delivers a more cinematic perspective on the colony’s fractured future.

✦ AI summary

The Outer Worlds 2 receives deeply divided reception from players, with some praising its exploration, addictive gameplay, and quest design as improvements over the first game, while others criticize the writing quality, unlikable characters, and storytelling as unacceptably poor for a studio known for narrative-driven RPGs. Common advice from those recommending it suggests waiting for a sale at a lower price point rather than purchasing at full price, as the gameplay may carry the experience despite its narrative shortcomings.

Outer Worlds 2 takes the unique position of being the first RPG I can't finish. Despite all of its flaws, the first game was able to have enough qualities that it made the game worthwhile, qualities that have all been completely forgotten or deliberately abandoned with its successor. Any entertaining aspect you could assign to this game has been delivered far more successfully in better games. The game's one unique aspect, its story, is so sloppily delivered it made the game completely unplayable for me. And keep in mind that I have over 200 hours in AC shadows and almost 100 in Borderlands 3, so that should really tell you something about how truly awful the writing in this game is. The dialogue reads like it was written by a millennial who's never had a real-life interaction with another human being before, and their only concept of human conversation is from reddit posts and twitter arguments. The game starts off promising and allows you to choose from a variety of backstories. For example, you may be tempted to choose the "professor" backstory, though you'll soon realize the game's archetype for such a character is less Doc Brown or even Walter White and more "to be fair, y…

HEY OBSIDIAN...... it's excusable to reskin Avowed so it's less effort to release 2 RPGs in a year..... that's fine. What i want to know is, when CHAT GPT wrote all the dialogue for these games, why did you have the settings at MAXIMUM UNLIKABLE???? It seems strange to me because everyone knows you guys can tell great stories and make great games and yet here are two RPGs where THERE IS NOT A SINGLE LIKABLE CHARACTER IN EITHER. The gaming community understands it's tough to speak up while wearing the microsoft GIMP MASK, so here is the deal. leave the abusinve relationship and we will be here to support you. until then give me my money back.

I actually really enjoyed this game. Much more than the first one. Exploration was enjoyable, story was passable, quests and companions were fun. Some of the critiques on world impact, dropping the ball on some companion interactions, and endings are warranted but i found the gameplay enjoyable enough to let that slide. Worth a play.

Quite addictive. If you liked first one you will love this one. Superb area planning and enough stuff to do to keep you busy!

going with mixed feelings on this one. Buy it on sale. reminiscent of Fallout games in a unique way but still kind of bland too, for like $30-$40 it's worth it to drop 50 hours into the game.
