About The Outer Worlds

✦ AI summary

Wake up decades into the future as a colonist caught in the middle of a corporate conspiracy, where your choices shape the story, your character build, and the fate of the Halcyon colony. Obsidian's signature player-driven RPG lets you tackle quests however you want, embrace character flaws for unique perks, command a crew of companions with their own agendas, and explore a sci-fi frontier overrun with alien monsters.

The Outer Worlds is an award-winning single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

KEY FEATURES

The player-driven story RPG

In keeping with the Obsidian tradition, how you approach The Outer Worlds is up to you. Your choices affect not only the way the story develops; but your character build, companion stories, and end game scenarios.

You can be flawed, in a good way

New to The Outer Worlds is the idea of flaws. A compelling hero is made by the flaws they carry with them. While playing The Outer Worlds, the game tracks your experience to find what you aren't particularly good at. Keep getting attacked by Raptidons? Taking the Raptiphobia flaw gives you a debuff when confronting the vicious creatures, but rewards you with an additional character perk immediately. This optional approach to the game helps you build the character you want while exploring Halcyon.

Lead your companions

During your journey through the furthest colony, you will meet a host of characters who will want to join your crew. Armed with unique abilities, these companions all have their own missions, motivations, and ideals. It's up to you to help them achieve their goals, or turn them to your own ends.

Explore the corporate colony

Halcyon is a colony at the edge of the galaxy owned and operated by a corporate board. They control everything... except for the alien monsters left behind when the terraforming of the colony’s two planets didn’t exactly go according to plan. Find your ship, build your crew, and explore the settlements, space stations, and other intriguing locations throughout Halcyon.

I am really enjoying this game so far so I wanted to leave a review. I get massive Bestheda vibes from it, very Skyrim/Fallout 4 vibes but set in space and I love it! Lots of quests, all very different from each other, compelling questlines and storylines, and I especially love a good perks/talent tree game model. Some of the dialog answers are so unhinged too which makes it funny and enjoyable. It looks incredible on my PC as well, very visually pleasing with lots of details and bright and vibrant colours, similar to Subnautica. I plan to finish this one, play all the way through and buy The Outer Worlds 2 to play next. I recommened this to anyone who likes the same open-world, perks/talent tree games like me!

I played the spacer's choice edition, though I had this in my inventory. I played that one as it was the more advanced version with all dlc's, etc. I found this, the original version, superior. The biggest difference is that I had serious graphic problems with the spacer's choice edition with completely washed out locations that I could barely see anything. This had none of that. So, my advice is to play the original and not bother with the spacer's choice version. Unfortunately, the original is no longer available on Steam. 80/100

I finished the Outer Worlds and I enjoyed it, It has some flaws but honestly its fun especially if your willing to play into its tongue and cheek vibes, Stuff is silly and off kilter and theres a lot of dark comedy with a focus on showing the abusive structure of unsanctioned corporations with no eyes on them. The gunplay is solid and snappy but there is not enough variety in weapons or weapon mods was hoping the dlc would add some as for the actual story itself, I liked it! The ending is sadly not as indepth and nitty gritty as new vegas but it does put in work and effort to give resolutions on things especially for the dlc, Solid 8/10 game.

This game is just boring and gay. Its not the same team that made New Vegas this was made by gays and feminists. Do not buy this or the other its a waste of your time and money.
