Pixel Survivor - Pixel Up!

FAR too easy. I lasted for almost 80 minutes on my second run. I understand it's in early access and as a result, my review may change at a later time to reflect that. But honestly? The game just isn't hard. It gets to the point that it becomes boring because of how easy it is.

As I like minimalist games, this starts fun, as the small pixel must at first just survive and collect other pixels to form a mobile fortress, while leveling up to make the structure increasingly stronger. Each time a certain size is reached the view zooms out, which means a less cramped space to move but also more enemies incoming. Some pixels just lock on the nearest enemy, others shoot depending on the direction the player moves. The issue is that it isn't challenging at all. So much so that I ultimately gave up out of boredom, standing still and letting enemies dismantle the fortress - and it still took several minutes. I could say it's a case of waiting for updates to make the game more varied and challenging, but it's been abandoned a few weeks after the initial release, making it unworthy even of its low price.

The mechanics of this game are cool, I like being able to add little pixels to my character only to see them DESTROYED because I got too large. Looking forward to the full version!

3.5* out of 5* The game in its current state really feels like a gamejam game. It's not bad, its pretty fun, but is pretty simple and short. It can entertain you for 15-30 minutes at the time, but not for very long. Imo it lacks a soundtrack, the tutorial is.. ok and it lacks native linux build. However, it works well with Proton and is fun for a few minutes. It's also really cheap, which is a plus. You wont go wrong buying it, but dont expect any epic, long gameplay. More like a quick game when youre really bored and dont know what else to play.
