About They Came From Below

They Came From Below is a cute Tower Defense in Lowpoly 3D graphics. Here you have to build an economy and various defense towers to resist hordes of skeletons.

To do this, you can choose various strategies, such as abandoning the economy to quickly build defenses, building up the entire map with simple but cheap towers, or building several, but very strong and strong improved towers.

When the towers cannot cope with the hordes of the rebels, or some cunning necromancer was able to slip through, then you can use various elemental super-strikes.

In the game you will find many different levels, both in construction and visual, from steppes and glaciers to hell! And also plunge into a pleasant, but sometimes tense atmosphere, accompanied by a cute soundtrack.

Good luck to you, to prove to the rebels from the earth that we do not just live above them!

They Came From Below, developed and published by Piece Of Voxel, is a modest tower defense title that combines straightforward strategic gameplay with a light resource management layer, all wrapped in a simple low-poly presentation. The premise is immediately familiar: enemies rise from beneath the ground in waves, and it’s up to the player to construct defenses, manage income, and prevent their base from being overwhelmed. While it doesn’t attempt to reinvent the genre, it tries to add a bit of flexibility through its economic system and open-ended approach to strategy. The core gameplay loop revolves around placing and upgrading defensive towers while balancing resource generation. Players are given the freedom to decide how to approach each level—whether to invest early in building a strong defensive line, prioritize economic growth for long-term scaling, or strike a balance between the two. This flexibility is one of the game’s more appealing features, as it encourages experimentation rather than forcing a single optimal strategy. In the early stages, this creates a satisfying rhythm of planning, reacting, and refining defenses as enemy waves become more demanding. However, t…

It wants to be retro fun, but it ends up as blocky proof that sometimes, what comes from below should probably just stay there. As far as tower defense games go, this is a tragedy. It manages to make chaos feel boring and has the continuing charm of a student project with pacing that swings between mildly frantic and existential waiting simulator.

A tower defence with 3 towers and one is completely useless. Fun.

This game is not recommended for players seeking an enjoyable experience. Its charming aesthetic fails to compensate for the absence of engaging gameplay. They Came From Below presents itself as a whimsical Tower Defense game featuring low-poly 3D graphics. Players are tasked with establishing an economy and constructing various defense towers to fend off waves of skeletons. You can adopt different strategies, such as prioritizing rapid defense construction over economic development, filling the map with numerous inexpensive towers, or opting for a few powerful upgraded towers. However, the game lacks depth and guidance, with no tutorial provided. There are two types of combat towers available, but players can only afford one of each. By the second level, players often find themselves defeated before they can make any additional purchases, regardless of their tower placements or spell usage. Each tower appears to have some upgrade potential, but players may not have the opportunity to explore these features, as defeat is likely before reaching level two. Additionally, there is a third type of tower introduced without any explanation of its function, which may provide extra lives…

Avoid at all costs! Wretched and horrible game. Set aside the complete lack of fluff and lack of tutorial. There are two combat towers, and you can afford one of each. On the second level you die before you can buy anything else, regardless of placement, or spell use. Each seems to have some upgrade ability, though I didn't get to experiment with these much, as you die before you can try on level two. There is a third kind of tower, with no explanation of what it does, though I think it may give you extra lives. Oh, and part way thru the first level, my towers simply started vanishing from the map. Weeee.... An easy game to warn people away from. The sort of cutsie look does nothing to make up for the complete lack of enjoyable game play.
