Rusty Rangers

I picked this one up on a whim, it looked pretty cool so I decided to try it. At the very beginning I was skeptical but the more I played it and started opening things up it clicked and I was hooked. I have several hours in it now and I'm really enjoying it and continuing to find new surprises & secrets. There's definitely more to meets the eye with this and it looks like a real hidden gem, emphasis on both hidden and gem. It deserves more attention but I don't know if that will happen considering it's not exactly unique (but it does the roguelike platformer thing very well), so unfortunately will probably wallow in obscurity, but if you're reading this right now then you should definitely buy it.

Very crude roguelike with a lot of effort put into some things (such as the art for the characters, music, the added flavor of the base building side quests, not making the bosses feel like a repetition of every trope boss ever, they are ot original, but they are not done to death either), but falling short in many other things, as always, worst for last: 1- the maps, specially the base, are that kind of big that feels empty. You know, like they planned to get much more in, or they couldnt make the assets look good in a more secluded space so they made it huge for what little they were gonna put in there. 2- the characters (the 4 i unlocked so far) dont offer enjoyable variety, and the only one who kinda feels like he should be special is actually CRAP because he has a charge main weapon, which he fires even if he so much as touches a wall, oh and if i recall correclty, the explosion from that missfire hurts you. 3-the difficulty spike on world 3 is crazy, manageable, but unearned, the game just throws sh*t at you and fills the room with overlapping attacks (bullets, whole floor area attacks, tackles, curving honing bullets, bullet streams, arching spread shot bullets, traps…

Is good

The Russians made a roguelite action platformer!! And it's good! I'm not even that far in and it's great silly fun. The English translation is a bit jank, but in a fairly amusing way, and it's (usually) pretty clear what's intended in item descriptions, so it's fine.

This game is so big, it's amazing The english translation is hard to read, but I think I got the idea of the story/characters eventually

This game oozes with charm and soul. The pixel art, gameplay, and bad translation grows on you as you progress. It's no RL2, but it's definitely a fun addition to the genre.
