ARCADE VS PLAYER

ARCADE VS PLAYER is a 2D retro pixel ripoff of Space Invaders, with a twist, you play the aliens. You move the block of aliens left and right as you wish, and you can also shoot downwards. Your objective is to kill off the player. There's an asset flipped 3D character behind the screen that represents the player, which is a nice touch, but really, you don't interact with that, it's just animated wallpaper. The game itself is just 2D retro pixel crap, and the twist of playing the aliens is fun for precisely 32 seconds, after which it's just the same old arcade game except you shoot down, what fun, not. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. This game is very simple, move the block of aliens around and shoot at the arcade player's space ship. If you win you get a cutscene of the arcade player walking away in disappointment, and if you lose you get a cutscene of the arcade player doing a victory dance. Every time you win, the arcade player gains +5% playing ability, and becomes slightly more difficult to defeat, which allows for a small replay value. And the arcade player is the tf2 scout. The lack of settings is a big downside, but it doesn't impact the game since its so simple, plus its only one dollar. I hope this concept gets expanded upon, and a bigger and better version is released.
