i really had a constant feeling i am playing a worse version of wolfentein 3D the weapon sound design is so extremely weak and sounds like you're knocking on a piece of wood since i am playing on the steam deck i am a little inconvenienced but the difficulty on normal is a bit too unbalanced. kept dying in the first level. the unresponsive movement doesn't help. very dumb AI. the dogs can get stuck on surfaces a lot. input registering is absolutely terrible and i have had troubles switching my weapons (doesn't feel smooth) it felt like threading a needle whilst wearing boxing gloves. music is all right. i would rather listen to something that was made either entirely using MIDI or using adlib/OPL like in most 90's shooters, though. the overall foundation for the theme is that it takes place during the Spanish Civil War. really cool concept though i feel like the game leans too heavily into the Wolfenstein 3D's archetype; down to the splash art you see in your steam library. i cannot recommend it to anyone unfortunately it is simply too jank, unrefined and derivative2 found this helpful
Is good. Bobby Prince would be proud of the soundtrack.
Tl;dr - The game is fun. You should play it. Go shoot some pendejos. Only Lead Can Stop Them is a fairly short, basic wolfendoom-style shooter, where the player is tasked with putting enough lead downrange to poison an entire country's worth of fascists (assuming the bullet holes don't kill them first). These aren't quite the fascists you're used to though: They're Spanish. The unique setting does a lot to make the game stand out, and it feels like the developers had a lot of fun with it. The art direction is great. Everything is bold, colourful and easily readible (though you might want to turn down some of the rerto filters if you're looking to prevent eye strain). The music was the biggest surprise to me. There are some CRAAAAZY good tracks. Gameplay wise: This is a game about shooting (hence the name). Luckily, that's the good part! I especially like the rifle. They really got that bolt-action firing rhythm juuuuuuuuuuuust right. There's quite an impressive enemy variety considering the game's length. That said, the encounter design often doesn't really make it feel that way, only using a couple of enemies at a time on normal difficulty. Speaking of which, if you're someone …
viva la republica!
A funny Doom clone, remembers a bit on the famous 'Raise of the Triad' or 'Codename Eagle', story is the Spanish Civil war, but at the end, you can disregard the story what does not play any heavyweight, and pass thru by only one goal- kill what moves. The presets are nostalgic made, giving you 3 selections back into the past, the latest age is playable, the 90' perfectly reflects a super pixel world, like it was before any graphic acceleration took place. The levels are simple, sometimes a bit too huge, the 3 zoom minimap does not reflect all walls, just the generic ones, at one level it is a good feature, as you know what gaps you need to blow by explosives. Weapons are in a great variety, I treasure the simple rifle, range and accuracy, and- the deadly buzz from heavy machine guns is perfectly set to realism, means you have not much chance to escape from it. Could be a local issue, but the mousewheel weapon swap is delayed and not very accurate, the flamethrower mainly ignites yourself, so keep moving back wards when using. Else it make a lot of fun, and can become real tough, there is a lot of firepower to expect so as many teeth from 2 and 4 legged foes. The secrets are kept f…
