No idea what the story was but gameplay is fun. Only downside was massive FPS drops during final fight.

Was fun. Played on Hard. Did get a bit repetitive. Highly recommend learning to use grenades, melee and all weapons to make gameplay loop more interesting.

I can recommend Boltgun, because it isn't necessarily a bad game, but it does have plenty of tedium and incohesive gameplay design. As a fan of 40k and an even bigger fan of retro and retro-throwback shooters, it's a mixed bag of cool 40k weapons and designs along with rather uninteresting execution in utilizing those. Much of the game is running from arena shootout to arena shootout with hallways of a few enemies between. You'll see the same handful of enemies and use the same 3 or 4 weapons for the first couple of hours. That does get a couple more weapons added on much later, but the slow grind to get there doesn't feed into any excitement or motivation to do so. Though, for that time, the titular Boltgun is satisfying to use against softer targets in the initial chapter. There are few levels where the design is just counter-intuitive. One being a large, open area with a singular, slow moving elevator or mag-lift to get you across a canyon. They dot the sides of the arena with some collectibles and enemies, but jumping to them means trekking back and waiting for that elevator to come back. In a fairly fast-paced game, those slowdowns are excruciatingly noticeable. …

ive only played for the first 2 levels but this game is something else, super fun. iron within iron without!

Basically a perfect game. Provides much more fun than its worth. If I had one gameplay gripe, it would be that grenades feel kind of limited. One technical gripe would be odd frame drops, despite a decent setup. Seriously, buy this game and play it.

Only played the first and 2nd half of the first 2 maps and WOW this game is awesome, its DOOM and Warhammer 40k rolled into one together, there may not be people that like boomer shooters but with the modernization of DOOM and turning it into Warhammer is really awesome, it's classic and works really well with WH40K. My first thoughts on the game were that some SFX were a little bit loud but it was fixed easily by changing some settings, It's definitely not WH40K Space Marine 2 or Darktide but it honestly fills a spot for the 40K games.
