Bloomtown: A Different Story

My goodness, what to say about this game. I had my doubts I'd like it at first as I'm not traditionally someone who likes the turn-based combat games. But Bloomtown pleasantly surprised me in how entertaining it was. Without giving too many spoilers, you get to garden, craft, cook, and do fun activities around the town and everything you do is to work toward being better dealing with the enemies in the game. You get to capture these enemies and use them to amplify your own powers and level them as well. I played the game twice and I enjoyed the pre-ending and the ending and I really hope to see a sequel to the game and get to enjoy Emily and Chester's characters when they grow up a bit more and maybe come back to Bloomtown? In any case, I'd recommend it and I will definitly play the sequel if there is going to be one.

i don’t normally play these type of games but this one caught my eye and it’s SO fun! funny storyline and puzzles are unique. combat is super fun. art & music is so good!

cozy, great music, but really not challenging at all. Oh yeah and the dialogue is a lot of fun

The Best Summer Vacation Ever! With only a minor war for the souls of humanity. Classic turn based combat with sprite animation. Visit your grandfather, investigate missing kids, get a dog, make a deal with the devil, call your brother names, contemplate your own mortality! And it has gardening & cooking mechanics! But in all seriousness use the demon traps.

Bugs, incorrect dialog at weird times, combat is rough especially at the end. Id grab it on sale if your willing to fight those but it definitely wears its welcome.

Great fun! Just from the get go, you can feel how interesting this story and world is going to be - mixing a small town, with demons and... kids? That's actually a really big part of it - as the story, dialogues, interactions and the mechanics are very much aligned with the fact that you play as a bunch of kids. And it rolls with it so well, with just ridiculous situations and funny commentary about (and from) the protagonist. Mechanically it works pretty well - you can say it's an element weakness based JRPG, but it does add some things to the mix which makes it somewhat unique. Does it go super deep with those mechanics? Not really. Can you have so much customization of your party? Kinda, but not that much. But it still holds it ground - as the story and world is engaging and it does a great job to be a complete and interesting game. It was definitely a delight to play!
