The world has fallen under the dominion of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a sinister corporation that has monopolized the planet's very life force as Mako energy. In the urban megalopolis of Midgar, an anti-Shinra rebel group calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their campaign of resistance.
Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the rebels, unaware that he will be drawn into an epic battle for the fate of the planet, while having to come to terms with his own lost past. FINAL FANTASY VII is EPIC! It's the reason I bought my kids a Playstation for Christmas, I mean they wanted the Playstation over the Nintendo 64, but I wanted it for this game, so I encouraged them a bit. I still have the original discs copy which I played over 200 hours (sons friend stole my memory card) ): and the Playstation, nostalgia for the win!2 found this helpful
I played the first two remakes before I played the OG. Despite this game having a few shortcomings too, I prefer the OG to the remakes The story is told very well and in such a straightforward way that I understood what was going on once the plot twists were revealed. I also prefer the original Cloud to the remake. You can see that he develops as a character throughout the game. That said, this game is also a product of its time, and some of it are just misogynistic. I'm glad they cut them out of the remake cuz wow Overall, it has one of the best stories/lores of any FF game. It has so many layers and depth. The world feels fully fleshed out, and I was a bit sad to see that the main villain's motive was comparatively weak
top 3 best rpgs ever but a horrible port, if ur new to final fantasy start with this.
