Neongarten

This is a fun little city-builder/puzzle game. Imagine Sim City, but as a 3D tile-laying game. Each building you place will generate income (sometimes negative income if you're not careful!) and will have effects on other buildings. Some synergies are obvious, others less so. One issue I have is that the building pool is so vast you may never see the building you need to complete your build, which can be frustrating. But even then, I have to recommend this a a relaxed strategy experience that's not quite like anything else I've played.

Neongarten is a puzzle game with rogue-like elements, that looks like a vertical city builder. It's easy to understand, but the unlocks greatly increase the complexity and the need to think carefully in three dimensions. "Cute cyberpunk" seems a contradiction in terms, but that is what this is.

Good: - The style is very appealing - Building details adapt to the available space Bad: - I get fuzzy (low-res) textures and no way to increase resolution - My computer works itself up like it's trying to run a triple A on Ultra. Something is horribly wrong here and it makes me want to not run the software.

Was relatively fun for the first few hours, but not worth the price range they demand for sure, not enough content/polish for that. It needs more work, probably in the building types and balance and to rethink some ideas. Currently there are too many maluses to combine building types as they come (e.g. industrial harms residential, each 'company' type harms the other 'company' types, and so on). But since this is a roguelite, the choices come at random and you 'have' to eventually combine buildings, or force your own build through and ignore half of the buildings you own, both of which end up in a not-fun experience. I saw no reason to continue playing the alternative modes or to come back for more, I'd happily call it an alpha stage game with a solid idea that requires polishing to complete, but paying 10$ for this left me with regret.

It's a cool puzzle mechanic. Some of it's a little obtuse, but you figure it out. It's nice to look at.

this is a very fun game. It's tricky but not insuperable and involves understanding how the multipliers work. There are hundreds of combinations so there's always some interesting permutation to work. It is also turn based and a game typically won't take more than maybe 45 minutes so you can get it done while multi-tasking etc and won't spend days on it.
