About Unsealed: The Mare

Unsealed: The Mare is a challenging psychological horror game blending tense gameplay with a dark, emotional story.

THE STORY

You play as Vera, caught between dreams and memories, you search for what should have been forgotten. As fragments of your family’s tragedy surface, they poison your mind and intertwine with your memories, distorting the dream into something increasingly horrific. In this nightmare, everything feels connected - bound by guilt, sorrow, and something far darker you cannot yet comprehend.

What begins as a search for answers slowly becomes a fight against a nightmare shaped by memory, loss, and something unsettlingly personal.

---------

The story and lore are discovered through environmental clues, notes, and memories, inviting players to piece together the truth themselves rather than follow a traditional narrative.

Estimated Playtime: 2-4h averageA free demo is available if you want to experience the beginning of the nightmare first.

CHALLENGING DIFFICULTY

The game is intentionally challenging and does not rely on traditional guidance or hand-holding. Progress requires careful observation, experimentation, and learning from mistakes.

GAMEPLAY

Progress through three chapters, each adding new mechanics and increasing the challenge.

FOCUS MEMORY
Use Focus Memory to reveal hidden messages, clues and memories to change the environment, uncover hidden areas, and solve environmental puzzles.
SEALED DOORS
To advance, destroy memory-bound objects to break the seals holding doors shut.

TOOLS & ENCOUNTERS
Use tools such as your flashlight, lighter, bulbs, and camera strategically as supplies become limited.
Death is not liberation; it’s merely another memory, sealed away.

KEY FEATURES:

 • Three Chapters: Three chapters introducing new challenges, tools, and deeper layers of the nightmare.
 • Focus Memory: Reveal hidden clues and paths to progress deeper into the nightmare.
 • Environmental Puzzles: Solve environmental puzzles and riddles using logic and memory.
 • Pure Terror: A mix of constant dread, scares, and unpredictable encounters that keep you on edge.
 • Sound as Survival: Track hidden objects and dangers through subtle audio cues. Every sound matters.
 • Challenging Encounters: Survival demands patience, awareness, and smart decisions. Mistakes have consequences.
 • A Personal Nightmare: A story rooted in family tragedy, grief, and the lingering presence of the past.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 • Begin in the basement memories, learning the core mechanics through slower, tense gameplay.
 • Chapter 2 expands the nightmare deeper into the house, revealing more of its memories alongside new puzzles and gameplay interactions as the intensity grows.
 • By Chapter 3, the Mare becomes unpredictable through a dynamic rage system, turning the final stretch into a tense confrontation where everything you've learned matters.
Warning: This game contains flashing lights and intense scares that may not be suitable for all players.

Developed and published by Gamhalla, Unsealed: The Mare is a psychological horror adventure that places its emphasis on suspense, exploration, and narrative depth instead of fast-paced action. The story follows Vera, a woman haunted by fragmented memories who must descend into a nightmarish world to uncover the truth behind a devastating family tragedy. Rather than presenting its plot through lengthy exposition, the game encourages players to piece together the mystery by examining their surroundings, discovering hidden clues, and interpreting scattered fragments of the past. This understated approach creates a stronger sense of immersion, allowing every discovery to feel significant while maintaining an atmosphere filled with uncertainty and emotional weight. A defining feature of the experience is its Focus Memory mechanic, which allows Vera to uncover concealed messages, reveal hidden pathways, and interact with objects that are otherwise invisible. This ability transforms ordinary exploration into an engaging investigative process where paying close attention to the environment becomes essential. Progression is tied to destroying memory-bound seals that block access to new are…

Been a while since I played a pure horror game like this one. Gotta the quick footsteps getting louder as she gets near was the scariest bit. It's pretty cool that it's not just a chase simulator, it has puzzles and varied things to do progress the story. Burning the bears was funny, wonder if a spinoff with those fellas would work lol. Yeah a bit claustrophobic with how the levels are structured but it's a good thing to have plenty of checkpoints. Overall a decent short to medium lenght horror game.

A horror game that at first makes you think its gonna be amazing but honestly it sucks There arent many jump scares and for 2 and a half hours or even more all you do is burn stupid dolls and light stuff on fire My experience with this game was really bad If you wanna play it I highly recommend trying the demo first Dont rush and waste your money on this terrible game

It was a lot of fun challenging but not too challenging and the jump scares were not overly predictable.

Started this game thinking: “Ooo psychological horror, spooky vibes, little puzzles ” Thirty minutes later I was crouched in a dark corner holding a lighter like it was my last shred of emotional support This game said: “Would you like trauma on top of your existing trauma?” and I apparently clicked YES. The atmosphere is so tense I started distrusting OBJECTS. Not enemies. OBJECTS. If a teddy bear looked at me funny I was ready to uninstall The sound design deserves jail time because WHY am I hearing breathing behind me when I live alone (okay I have a cat that inevitable knocked a glass over while I was in the middle of hiding from the wandering spirit, but in the moment I was sure it was supernatural influence) Also shoutout to the sealed doors mechanic for making me feel like a supernatural locksmith with severe anxiety. The game basically punishes you for: being curious existing having ears making eye contact with literally anything 10/10 experience. Would absolutely get psychologically folded by ghost trauma again.
