Slav Junkie Simulator takes an intentionally bleak and bizarre approach to the survival genre, putting the player in the shoes of a heroin-addicted man attempting to survive seven days in a struggling Eastern European city. Developed and published by Eathrabaria, the game combines first-person exploration, resource management, dark comedy, crime, and addiction into an experience that is deliberately uncomfortable. Instead of building a successful life or gradually becoming more powerful, the player's immediate concern is simply staying alive while dealing with dependency, financial problems, and a growing collection of bad decisions. The basic survival loop is built around the protagonist's addiction. He begins the game already dependent on heroin and in debt to the local mafia, leaving very little room for stability. Money is needed to obtain drugs and other necessities, but earning or acquiring it can involve increasingly questionable choices.
