Scar-Lead Salvation wouldn't be terrible by 2006 PlayStation 3 tech demo standards, but it's completely overpriced for what it is in 2026. Score: 5/10 - Only buy during a sale if at all. The positives: The main character and weapons control fairly well. 100% native controller support. Generic story but the game's voice actress was doing her best to keep the player engaged. The game actually features a decent Anime Returnal style combat loop. Starts extremely easy with fair difficulty progression, and a generous parry, dodge mechanic. The negatives: The enemies and level design are completely uninspired, soulless garbage. I made it to the end of the game and the few stages are nothing but color palette swaps. There's only a handful of robots and traps and you've basically seen everything interesting after the first hour. Overall, the technical performance was fine, but there's an occasional stutter at 1080p. Very few graphics settings and 1080p is the max resolution. I wish this game had any sense of level design, because the shooting and dodging mechanics are decent. I'm a huge fan of the game Returnal, and I've been searching for any other 3rd person FPS bullet hell game that can even come close to being as good, and unfortunately this just isn't it. It took me nearly 3 hours of playing just to get to the 2nd boss and that's with taking no deaths and playing aggressively. Around the middle point of the second level every combat room becomes a pit filled with way too many enemies with no regard taken for how their bullet patterns overlap and box in the player in ways they cannot get out of. I genuinely enjoy and actively seek out challenging games, but when the challenge is born from bad level design and just spamming enemies all over the room it becomes a very frustrating experience. The entire point of bullet hell games is being able to manage your footing while also managing taking down enemies, but this game ignores that design philosophy entirely. Plays pretty nicely and the relationship between Willow and the AI is surprisingly endearing, but the game is not a lot of fun past the first area. All areas have far too many rooms to fight through, there's little variety in enemies and the difficulty feels unbalanced. I was also getting these bad bugs where the audio would completely cut out or sound effects would suddenly get much louder over the music and dialogue, sometimes I'd activate my onslaught ability and it would be kept on until I used the portal to go to the next room and several times I paid the money for a full health revive only to get nothing so I'm mid-run with low health and no money. When it works, it can be fun, but I've had a lot of issues plaguing my playtime and I don't have any desire to complete it more than once. I will say though, it's better than either Neptunia Riders and Death End Request: Code Z. The Returnal influence is very clear and the game is pretty ambitious, but it's not worth full price.

Eh pretty easy and boring, I think it's fine on 8.99 sale or lower. Runs well on steam deck, thank god because you can't change graphics.
