Ortunia Mysteries: Where Did Everybody Go?

First-person adventure game with some interesting but repetitive puzzle mechanics, vague clues, and very generous hints. In this first-person adventure game, you take on the role of a healer who’s been urgently summoned by a close friend. He’s in trouble and needs your help, asking you to meet him and his companion at a local inn. However, when you arrive, the place is eerily deserted. The streets are empty, the inn is silent, and it seems as though the entire city has vanished into thin air. Your only lead is the realization that your friend may have escaped through a hidden passage beneath the inn, which lead all the way to the catacombs and cathedral. Unlike traditional point-and-click adventures, this game gives you complete control over your movement. You can freely walk around the room as long as there’s no physical barrier in your way. While you can run, there’s no jumping or any kind of action button beyond basic navigation. However, camera is a bit different: you only move your view by holding down the right mouse button and moving the mouse. Otherwise, the mouse functions as a cursor for interacting with the environment using the left mouse button. One key challenge…

I had a lot of fun with this. It reminds me a lot of old school point and click puzzle/ escape room games. There's some technical issues, such as being able to see through walls by standing close enough and sconces being low enough that I'd often get caught on them while moving around. There were also some spelling errors and an NPC later on whose purpose confused me a little. I wasn't sure if I was meant to hide from the NPC because I couldn't talk to him but walking in front of him didn't have any consequences. Nitpicks aside, I really enjoyed the game. I'm excited for the next game and to see where the story goes.
