About Dark Dominion

Dark Dominion is a grim and harrowing tale of a World War I soldier trapped between life and death. After losing his family on the battlefield, he dies—yet does not realize it. His soul now roams a distorted realm, searching for his daughter in the bleak night of the afterlife.Inspired by the classics of the genre, the game is crafted with a deep love for gothic aesthetics by a small team of five developers. Their vision draws from legendary titles such as Dark Souls, Diablo II, and Demon’s Souls.

Key Features:

▪ Unique Storyline: The game combines a dark gothic atmosphere with elements of psychological horror, gradually revealing the bitter truth about the player’s fate.▪ Descent into Madness: You will be haunted by nightmarish visions and the ghost of the one you lost. She leads you through the darkness — but can you trust her?▪ Hardcore Combat: Brutal battles in the spirit of Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls, featuring bosses that embody the fears and guilt of the protagonist.▪ Exploration of a Mysterious World: Discover four vast locations filled with secrets, lore, and terror.▪ Next-Gen Graphics: A gothic world crafted with an astonishing level of detail and photorealism, immersing the player in an atmosphere of despair and melancholy.

I have to write this, as I don't see how this game could be in "Mostly Positive" reviews. And I have to point out that I barely write any negative reviews, but this one is worth talking about. I knew the game would have some issues, but DAMN. If I set anything over "Low" graphics the game crashes once I enter a cutscene. The game is broken in general with so many bugs (I've slipped through colliders when making backstabs to enemies, I've fell to death just by walking over an akwardly small ledge, so many item descriptions missing or wrong scalings on weapons, and so on) Also it has quite a lot of design flaws (I understand the old hardcore mood the devs want to achieve, but there are soooo many things that are just not funny, like the mimics, enemies that oneshot the PC at random, not being able to backtrack the levels, etc). There are some cool things, I especially like that the devs try to push a different narrative to other games of the genere, the areas have a cool mood and there are some nice armor designs. Despite that, the combination of the pricing and the shady reviews is the main reason I want to write this, because I think it's misleading. Yes, in its current state is…

This game was clearly released when it was in the [pre ?] 'Alpha' stage of development. It has lots of bugs, things that do not work and it is clear to anyone who plays the game that many parts are unfinished, (or were supposedly under development.) At the time of release the developers produced a 'road map' showing extensive planned developments for the game between June and September 2026 on the Steam store page. (This information was subsequently removed from the Steam page in August.) None of these "developments" have taken place and the game now appears to be abandon. However, the game is just about playable in its present state and it has some redeeming features. Graphically it looks very good, the audio and voice acting are good and some of the music is outstanding and fits in with the excellent dark fantasy atmosphere of the game. The story is OK. Exploration in the game is reasonably decent. Combat is very janky but just about playable, and can even be fun at times. The lock-on to enemies is often very poor which creates all sorts of problems in combat.. Also the game as lot of unforeseen "instant deaths" eg traps, monsters that 'one shot' you, falling through wal…

In the end, this feels like an uninspired clone of its inspirations. It takes the surface elements of Dark Souls and Diablo II but forgets to include the depth or fun that made those games classics.=((

Enemy variety is shockingly low considering the game length; by location three you're fighting the same skeletons you've been killing since the start.

It's clear the small team poured their hearts into this project. This is a true labor of love for fans of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, delivering a fresh yet familiar challenge.

Visually, it's a triumph. The attention to detail in this photorealistic world creates a sense of place so strong you can almost smell the decay.
