Delta Vector - Turn Based Racing

A wonderful blend of turn-based strategy and racing. Really makes you consider the actual mechanics of racing instead of just whipping around a track and intuiting it like a normal racing game.

This little gem made more than my day. I used to play this on paper with my brother when I was a kid, and this game brought me a huge amount of joy. Currently 50 hours in and counting. Replayability is endless, and both in the challenge as in the trial modes, you can hone your skills and improve your driving, while PVP and PVE are guaranteed fun for everyone. I would love to see further development, more maps or even a V2 of this game!

I really wanted to like this game, but it has some major faults. One, if you're playing single player. All of your time will be spent doing what is basically solo time trials. There are many cars to choose from, but you have to unlock them via challenge mode. Which is basically time trials. On PVE mode you can only put down one other car. So it's quite boring between driving solo or racing against one other car. Which brings me to the second point. COM cars can just drive right through you. So even if you took the better line from the starting point, they will just drive right through your car to make their turn. Enemy racers have zero incentive to take a racing line that avoids your car, unlike actual race sims. This game has something great buried inside of it. But I can't even recommend it at $3. It entertained me for less than 2 hours and I doubt I'll pick it back up, barring a major update of some sort.

There's definitely something here, but I just don't think it's for me. I like turn based games and I like racing games, but I couldn't get into this. I think for me, this didn't feel anything like a racing game, as it was too slow, and it didn't feel like a good turn-based game, as there were only 9 options each turn and a few turns after making a decision, your decision didn't matter, the strategy wasn't deep enough. When played in real time racing is fascinating because you have to make those decisions constantly and in real time, and that makes it difficult. When abstracted to being turn based, making the right series of moves over a minute or so per lap, it just doesn't satisfy me in the same way that real time racing does.

It is a nice little game! Mechanically different than most games. And challenging. Lets you think more closely about velocity and acceleration. If you like turnbased thinking and racing physics this one is definitively worth its price. Although, time to completion is pretty short. (I got some bugs here and there, but nothing that persists between sessions.)

Nice puzzlish racing game, digital adaptation of pen and paper fun. If you were a fan of such entertainment, this game could steal few hours of your time. However, despite existence of many tracks and cars, it all boils down to "get your speed adjusted before next turn and pick fine curve" dilemma. So, not a lot of excitement gameplay-wise, but low price and nice graphics are still worth it.
