The game feels like it does few things very well, and few things very poorly - and unfortunately, the parts it gets poorly drag down the experience quite a bit for me. Firstly, the music and look of the game is great, and I enjoyed most of the stages going for the golds - the game is fine on this front, these are its strong points. The camera control is truly awful, and while there's an "8 directional lock" mode, it doesn't feel very useful when its an ordeal to just line up the ball in the direction you want to go. There's no button to move the camera outside of moving the character as well, so if you need to turn around, you have to actually move the character all the way around to see where you're going. This leads to some rather annoying scenarios. The arcade modes feel really poorly done as well. The first few are a total joke, and then the later ones are all backloaded with some of the most inconsistent levels in the game, where you're required to either send it and launch yourself into the air and hope you get the right bounce, or fight against the camera & inconsistency of the controls on super tight precision levels which don't fit the mechanics of the game. a bit early to write a review but i’ve already had a lot of fun with this! the art style and the music is so nostalgic and the controls on a steam deck / controller are solid once you get the hang of them. would definitely purchase a separate DLC with more levels if one ever releases.1 found this helpful
Solid and extremely arcadey if stylistically spartan Monkey Ball clone with a banging breakbeat soundtrack, creative level design, a slightly irritating but probably intentionally so camera, and a challenge that in true Monkey Ball style ranges from "I guess I'm supposed to get all the gems and medals, right?" (worlds 1 & 2) to "I want to shoot something with an automatic rifle while screaming" (world 7). Missed about 4 levels from the last world - 3 of them are probably doable with enough practice, but "Halfpipe Nightmare" is just a totally sadistic balance-based endurance fest that made me think it's time to move on. Probably better than the vast majority of actual Super Monkey Ball games though.1 found this helpful
This game is a lot of fun if you want an experience similar to Super Monkey Ball. It's not the exact same because you are actually controlling the marble not the stage, but some of the level design feels similar. The art and music are VERY much early 2000's I would recommend playing with a controller with a joystick since some of the later levels you REALLY need the extra control.1 found this helpful
It's decent fun, still learning the mechanics as I go. It'd be nice to have unlocks for the ball after each zone like a glass marble or a ball using cubemap reflections etc.1 found this helpful
It's alright but what little content there is sucks. The level design is terrible. I'm a fan of marble games and picked this game up to keep me busy, and it did for a few hours. For how cheap it is, I can't say it's not worth the asking price. But I can say it's not worth your time. Go play any other marble rolling game, there are like a hundred of them on Steam. Maybe I'm being too harsh but the levels in this package really piss me off. Doesn't help that the game has a godawful camera. It's like the camera in Super Monkey Ball but like, way worse. I have a ton of time on Super Monkey Ball, I'm familiar with how the camera works in that game, and if the camera here worked half as good I'd be happy. It doesn't.
