very great concept, was a little confused in the beginning about neighboring pieces but you figure it out

very laid back. watching the pieces score is so satisfying. its not really like chess because you can move pieces anywhere, but i think the tiles system is amazing. music is also great. i think i prefer shattered chess over this by a small margin.

I think it's a very capable Balatro clone. I wish it had dared to carve out its own aesthetic, because it feels a bit gross to me that this game is riding Balatros coat tails in order to sell more copies. It'll probably work, too. If this game had its own identity instead of borrowing another game's identity, I think it would have been quite excellent. It is genuinely fun.

It's a really fun roguelike deckbuilder that does a good job of combining roguelike elements with aspects of chess. There's a lot of strategy and depth, and you are able to set up fun unique builds. It's clearly inspired by Balatro but is also a lot different and worth giving a try if you like Balatro!
