✦ AI summary

Players praise the game as a strong digital board game recreation with engaging mechanics that appeal to longtime fans of dice-and-card baseball simulations, noting the developer's active support and innovative features. However, significant technical issues plague the experience, including critical bugs like lineup order skipping during games, player activation/deactivation not persisting, and missing quality-of-life features like trading functionality, with some reviewers suggesting the game launched prematurely in an unpolished state.

I tried to hold off on a review hoping for various updates to fix the bad state of the game. However still no updates to the game and my $100 spent is currently wasted. I'm guessing the game will be great in a year but currently unplayable if you are doing more than a 1 off. I plan to change this review asa the game is in a better place. It should never have been released in this state.

Board game recreation with active support from the developer. If you've ever enjoyed Strat or APBA, you should give this a try.

I've been a very loyal POP customer with many purchases. This computer version is ambitious and likely some day will be what it wants to be but it's simply not there yet. I believe before a game is released it should have the basics at minimum covered. This game was not ready. It could not even duplicate the correct rules for a baseball era. The board game companion left out many basic plays and limited choices on fielders. Even add ons like Logos were not reachable as it did not have a way to scroll to get to correct teams, this was promised to be fixed in 1.1 and it was not, at least for me. That I can live with but after a few months of original release where I had stopped a replay because basic things made them unplayable this was a final frustration. It does not compare favorably to similar products like Replay computer or even the low bar of Strat (hasn't been updated since the 90's). I'm not talking about the game engine, which is great, I'm talking about the computer programming. It's not at the same level as other games. I love the idea of downloading games from Retrosheet etc. but step one can you play the game, can you score the game, can you get to things necessary for…

This is a really great game with amazing support by the developer! A great digital Payoff Pitch card and dice baseball simulation game on it's own, it also contains a customizable board game companion for use with card and dice baseball simulations like Payoff Pitch Baseball, Strat-O-Matic Baseball, APBA, Inside Pitch, Statis Pro, etc. Lots of innovative features like jumping into the middle of a historic season and finishing it from that launch point, controlling one team and merging the results from the game with what happened in history, replaying the post season without major setup by the user, and analyzing dice trends that give you information as to why certain players may be overperforming or underperforming. Lots of good stuff!

I am having an unreasonable amount of fun with this game. i've played D&C baseball games since I was eight years old and this one is really fun. Scratches the dice-and-card itch very well, with some different mechanics from the APBA and Strat games I grew up with. I'm at the stage of my life where I play replays simply for fun and there are a lot of ways to do that with this game. I wish there was a guide included to help new players understand how the system works but unlike most algorithm based games like OOTP, this one handles player baserunning and bunting quite well. I've played, and continue to play, just about every major game of this sort and I think this one more than holds its own.

Even after the 1.1.1 update, the game is still unplayable with AI. The use of FAC cards has improved. And the stats package is still bare bones. So, even with the 1.1.1 update, I wish that the game play could operate on just one window/screen instead of going back and forth from screen to screen. For example, on the main screen during a game, I can see the ball field with options to sacrifice, hit and run, etc. But then I go to the screen where the pitcher and hitter cards are displayed, and if I want to sacrifice, then I have to cancel out of that screen and go back to the first screen. Also, it's a nuisance when I start a replay of a season to always have the replay stats for players as the default because they are all zeros. I always have to switch off of replay stats until there is a large sample size in my replay. As I've said, I'd like to play the games vs. the AI, but if I do that, then the AI doesn't use the HOLD rating and the AI stealing becomes a mess, with most runners thrown out. When I go to pinch hit or bring in a relief pitchers, the default display is "replay stats" and in that situation, I want to know the real stats, so that is a nuisance. When I bring in a re…
