Best game in the series right after NMH1.

Suda51 becomes broke and homeless after making the atrocity that is NMH2 and then wakes up in a cold sweat one night realizing that he can make good games and TSA is created. Definitely not an amazing game , given the generally mediocre level design and enemy types that range from nothing more than screen pollution to worse than some bosses, but at least characters and settings are fun unlike NMH2. I really wish Badman got more time to shine, but I understand the limitations this game faced with it's budget and all really hurt the chances of that. If you're a NMH/Suda51 fan and are thinking of skipping TSA for any reason, I would heavily advise against it. It's absolutely worth playing, and unlike NMH2, it has significance to the overall plot of the series. The issues I have with it aren't THAT bad either, I just couldn't bring myself to play more than 1 level a day with how drawn out some can be. Especially the first few and the final base game level. God I hate CIA.

Confused title. The intro upon booting it up is just crazy. Cameos, revenge, HYPE! Then the gameplay... even on bitter it feels so simple and mindless like a game meant for 6 year olds. Tried to see if the level 1 bosses had any real mechanics/environmental interactions, and nope... The character switch mechanics also make no sense from any viewpoint. Gameplay, switching between them is tedious, they have unique dialogue (need to exit and re-enter game to see it). Narratively, it's available from the get-go, and isn't explained (at least not right away), so you are just safely walking around one another? The XXXX? Flavor writing is good, so maybe I'll watch a Let's Play and FF through to all the dialogue, but overall, total failure of a title.

Mixed feelings on this one. Hard to thumbs down a Suda51 game, but it's, like, kind of exactly what you'd expect from him, by now. Gameplay's just not as good as the usual No More Heroes games, the antagonists, which are a large part of why these games work, are boring; but, the levels themselves have a fair bit of charm, it's still made with that strange, pouty yet wonderful joie de vivre, and, as an experience, I don't regret playing through it; it's ultimately a spin-off, and it performs as a spin-off typically does. Unremarkable but worth checking if you're a big sudahead.

After being let down by NMH3, I bit the bullet and bought this game at full price and I was not disappointed! Unlike NMH3, this game retains the wackiness and soul of the prior entries. The gameplay has been changed to a simple hack-n-slash format, but I never felt that the gameplay was a crucial part of the series anyways. The biggest downside of this game is that there is almost no voice acting. HOWEVER, it is because of this that I HIGHLY recommend using Steam Remote Play Together to get the intended co-op experience. This way you can take turns voicing certain characters throughout the frequent dialogue and occasionally cheese death on Bitter mode with the infinite revives. As side note, if your game is crashing on bootup, follow this guide to fix it.
