Team up with up to four players in this fast-paced 2D action game where loadout customization and cooperative combat are key to saving the world.
In this frantic 2D action game, you are part of the Mercenary Kings, the most skilled team of warriors-for-hire on Earth, but when your comrades have fallen and the fearsome forces of CLAW have seized an island-wide top secret Laboratory Base, you must do what it takes to stop them.
But you're not going in unprepared! Your back-up is made of a crew of rogue geniuses and experts of their field! Able to craft & customize guns'n'blades or upgrading body armor, you've never been this ready to join the fight.

Mercenary Kings is a genuinely fun game once you understand what it actually is: not Metal Slug, but more of a Monster Hunter-style mission grind with Mega Man movement in a gorgeous pixel art wrapper. The gun crafting system is the real star — mixing shotgun stocks with sniper receivers and experimenting with bounce shots or laser ammo gives you that satisfying "aha" moment when something clicks. That said, the repetitive maps and relentless material farming wear you down hard by the late game, and the mission timer combined with bosses that casually wander off mid-fight are genuinely maddening design choices. If you go in expecting a slow, methodical loot game rather than a run-and-gun and can stomach some grinding, there's a rewarding experience buried here — especially with friends. An average at best game, made worse by the inclusion of a timer.1 found this helpful
I could see myself having fun in this co-op but I can't really see anyone getting together four people to play a niche monster hunter progression metal slug run-and-gun game, solo it just doesn't have much bite and for how much damage you take I'd probably like more visible collision on bosses especially when you have to roll under their legs from rather close
- Way too expensive for what you get, a pretty underwhelming, meh game
Love this game. I love the character this game has. feels like nothing that has come out recently and is always a fun game to go back to. Highly recommend, always got a smile on my face when i play this.
