1 Screen Platformer: Prologue

I'll give the same generous rating as to the first game, although it's a bit more interesting and varied, and solves some issues such as the possibility of using the D-pad to move. The gameplay is still as basic but the addition of various mechanics within levels is a welcome one, even though it also brings some additional jankiness. There are also various bugs which give the impression it's not a finished product, even within the interface. (The character screen glitched within the first seconds after I launched the game, which didn't give a great first impression.) I didn't bother trying the harder difficulty modes so I can't vouch for them, since the normal mode is already a step above the previous one. But it's overall the same pretty decent experience.

For a free prologue, this is a rock-solid little challenge. If you are a fan of "try, die, retry" platformers, this is worth your time. I played this on a laptop running Linux Mint, and I am happy to report it ran flawlessly. There were zero compatibility issues. I even have the game installed on a Micro SD card, and it still loaded and played perfectly fine with no lag or stutter. I used a PlayStation 3 controller when i played the game. As for the game itself: it is tough but fair. The "1 screen" concept is well executed, and the traps are placed precisely to kill you over and over again. The game keeps track of your deaths, and I racked up about 300 deaths in my 35-minute run to finish the level and grab all the achievements. The pixel art looks crisp and nice on my laptop screen, and the controls are tight. If you like speedruns or just want to test your reflexes, give this a shot.
