For a sci-fi adventure that promises aliens, multiple endings, RPG elements, combat and space exploration, 2024: Aliens Are Coming feels more like a prototype than a game. There are no Steam achievements or Trading Cards, despite plenty of obvious milestones that could have been added, and the current version contains only three levels. The developer originally planned a huge amount of additional content, including more story episodes, stealth, companions, personal and space combat, but development appears to have stalled long ago. The basic concept is interesting, but after waiting this long, it is difficult to recommend an Early Access game that still feels this incomplete.

2024: Aliens Are Coming is an unusual indie science-fiction adventure built around UFO secrecy, extraterrestrial encounters, military involvement, and the difficult decisions that could accompany humanity discovering that it is not alone. Developed and published by Startroop L.L.C., the game approaches its alien-invasion premise from the viewpoint of an ordinary person whose life is suddenly disrupted by events far beyond normal experience. Instead of functioning as a straightforward alien shooter, it attempts to establish the foundations of a narrative-focused RPG in which alliances, personal convictions, exploration, and player decisions are supposed to shape a much larger journey. The current Early Access release is considerably smaller than that ambitious premise might suggest. It contains only the opening three levels and three cutscenes, making it closer to an introductory demonstration than a complete adventure.
