A Date With Chester 2

Its cute and intetesting, but the main gameplay loop isnt very fun. HIGHLY recommend if you're a fellow Chester fan, but not so much if you're just stumbling on this.

A Date With Chester 2 is a really weird little game, but I mean that in the best possible way. I am playing through a short anniversary date with Chester the otter, but what starts out looking like a simple dating game gradually turns into something much stranger. I can explore the house, interact with objects, find things Chester has prepared and try to work out what is going on. It is only around 30 minutes to an hour long, so it never has time to drag things out, and I think that works really well for this kind of game. The first thing I like is how much personality Chester has. The hand drawn art mixed with the simple 3D environments gives everything a slightly homemade feeling that fits the character perfectly. I can click around the rooms and find little objects while getting bits of information about Chester and the relationship. There are also collectible items hidden around the game that reveal more about his hopes and fears. I like finding these because they give me something to actually look for instead of simply following the main path from one conversation to the next. It's missing the feature to sing karaoke with Chester.

I like the game, playing as I'd like. I can't knock it for anything. I've got all the achievements so obviously the photo finding was frustrating. To help I'd like to share a semi-spoilerless guide: Full of Pilk - During first dialogue, choose the option to go to the kitchen. Grab the glass from the cupboard, look in the fridge, drag the PNG of the glass onto the milk, then click the pepsi. The achievement will pop when you give him the pilk. Good Boy - collect the requested item from the fridge. No Love Detected - Only pick up the collectibles to trigger each section. What You Deserve - as above, you'll probably get this one organically. I'm Worth It - collect all items (Mild area spoilers ahead) Collect all photos - This is mostly RNG but there is a path where it's easiest. Get the first photo and head right immediately after entering. Check the tree on this path, go to the tower and check the base and concrete foundation. Then head back to the entrance via the crater, check the hut inside and out, the barrels, and then the concrete barrier on the way up.
