A Memoir Blue is a super short game, but in my opinion, that is exactly what makes it so special. Normally, I am not a fan of those linear story games because, although most of them have a great narrative, they chop it into multiple boring and unnecessary puzzle segments just to artificially extend the game's length. A Memoir Blue, however, is brutally honest. It only shows what it actually wants to offer, thereby respecting my time. In fact, it is the only game in this entire genre that I would genuinely replay. What matters more is the narrative, and I truly liked how it explores the complex dynamic between childhood and adulthood. Especially the setting of the underwater world, seen through the eyes of a professional swimmer, made A Memoir Blue a unique experience. Still, I think it missed an opportunity to showcase the protagonist's entire life journey instead of just contrasting childhood with adulthood, which could have made it an even more personal and immersive experience. It's beautiful and lovely. But it's NOT a game it's an interactive animation film. I kept waiting for the game to start while clicking random elements on the screen. Well there was no game to start it's just animation upon animation with some minimal interaction to move things along. Interaction like click on a lamp to turn it on or drag a leaf or something like that. That's pretty much it.

If they're gonna force autosaves on us instead of being able to save the game ourselves wherever we want then maybe they should put enough checkpoints that we don't have to redo anything.
