About Airship Commander
Airship Commander is my attempt to cram together a Wing Commander inspired mission structure, with the multi-station B-17 bomber sim popular in 1990s. Except with airships. Over a steampunk mega city one.
The game is all about doing what VR does well. Namely move slowly, communicate a tremendous sense of scale, and have all kinds of wild spectacle occurring around the player at different distances.

This game kind of broke my heart. It looks like it is going to be something special while it is barely a game at all. What you do is try to get along side another airship and your ship auto fires guns. That is the game. You turn and go up and down, nothing more. You can pilot a smaller ship from your larger vessel but the gameplay is the same. Nothing in the game has collision. You can fly through buildings and other ships. There are some pretty cool looking mechanical birds that fly around and... fly through your ship without any collision. This should definitely not be $10. I've got tons of judder on my 6700K 1070 rig. It's possible that is a problem on my end though I dont have issues with any other games. This is only the second game I've ever refunded. Maybe I'll check it out again in 6 months if it's still around.31 found this helpful
Really neat airship game with fantastic scale. The core game is solid with multiple game modes are in the current version along with a random scenario generator which gives this game quite a bit of content compared to other early access VR games. The game allows for LOTS of enemy and friendly ships flying at the same time so battles can get extremely explosive which is amazing to see in VR. Flying blimps is slow (as expected) but it allows time to setup the best angles to attack enemy ships. Right now, you only need to get the broadside of your ship pointing towards the enemy and the AI handles firing. Hitting an enemy with cannon fire looks amazing and feels great seeing them fall from the sky in flames. My only qualm is how the game handles flying on the Y axis. Currently, you can fly anywhere on the X axis but pitching up and down on the Y axis is not possible. The game handles the Y axis by moving your ship up or down to a predetermined altitude. This method ensures you engage ships only when they are on the same altitude but when dealing with a airship game like this, it feels a bit unnatural not being able to pitch your airship up or down. The game is still early and as…11 found this helpful

Really needs controller or keyboard support to be playable and clear instuctions. Found controller and arrow keys will let me control some things in the air shipand can look round deck with mouse but not do anything. Don't have or use VR and may well be case that I could not any way as have lazy eye. Can only get out of game using ctrl alt del and start using some of the F keys.3 found this helpful
