AKAZU Off limits

"AKAZU Off limits" is yet another first person horror adventure game with asset flip looking Unreal assets. This one is particularly shallow compared to the literally hundreds, if not thousands of borrowed-asset/game template first person horror adventures on Steam. What do you do in the game? With a friendly Japanese theme, you go into an old Japanese dwelling with nice tatami mats and things and get jumpscared by a ghost. Yeah, that's it. There's nothing of substance to this. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. AKAZU Off limits is a **free-to-play**, **10–15 minute** horror walking sim that drops you into a “where am I and why is the air judging me?” situation and tells you to explore slowly and carefully. It’s set in Japan, which means the atmosphere is doing **90% of the work** and the remaining 10% is your flashlight trying its best. The gameplay is simple: walk, look, interact, and periodically turn your flashlight on/off like you’re paying per lumen. I spent the whole time thinking, “This is fine,” in the exact tone you use right before you sprint down a hallway for reasons you can’t explain to HR. Also, it’s the kind of horror where nothing has to *happen* for you to be uncomfortable—because your brain will happily generate dread out of plain walls and suspicious silence.
