天使戦争 Angels' War

天使戦争 Angels' War is a very short action game that surprised me with how personal it feels. I play as Amane Kanata, flying through a strange imaginary world and trying to reach the end while dealing with a small number of boss fights. It is a fan made game inspired by Kanata's 3D live performances, and that is important to understand before going in because this is clearly made as a personal tribute rather than a big commercial action game. I actually like that about it because the whole thing has a much more focused feeling than a game trying to do ten different things at once. The flying is probably the part I enjoy most. I can move through the air, dodge attacks, punch enemies and throw shurikens, with a lock on system helping me keep track of targets. It gives the combat a slightly unusual feel because I am not just running around on the ground waiting for an opening. I am constantly moving through the air and trying to stay in a good position while watching what the boss is doing. The controls are simple enough to understand quickly, and the game recommends using a controller, which I think suits the movement particularly well. An actually pretty fun free action game. You can fly, shoot and punch, and there is an enemy in front of you. That's all. It's short and quite enjoyable for what it is. [spoiler]Objectively:[/spoiler] 7/10
