Arcane Assembly

STELLAR. I played it in one sitting, immediately started another run just to mess with the spells more. It has its flaws, definitely, but for the price point I would definitely recommend. The main attraction is the spell creation system, and every time I got an upgrade I'd spend like an hour playing with it. So fun. If anything could be improved, I'd say the balancing could be better. I barely bought any health or potion upgrades (even though there's an entire resource dedicated solely to potions) and did just fine because I dealt so much damage. I think I killed the final boss in about 30 seconds, but to be fair if he hit me more than two or three times I'd probably die. The game is also lacking some polish- dashing into corners can sometimes put you in the floor, the "reset position" button sends you to the exit of most rooms (and even lets you skip the intended progression in some cases, such as with the web door), and for some reason entering negative numbers into variables would just round to zero (although subtraction allowed negative numbers). me and my 7 year old played this. and he loves it. he actually has learned repeat is his favorite. this has helped me teach my 7 year old core programming principles . its got some rough edges. but this is perfect for what i needed it for. the jumping can be difficult but I showed him no clip and its perfect for those hard to make jumps. and the visual coding blocks mean he can drag and drop and try to piece stuff together and than ask me to help correct. i started up sandbox and i can tell the games lacking maybe 8 hours for an adult. honestly i wish there was more.

This was a really fun little platformer with a very unique magic building system. It may have some little glitches but overall was a ton of fun. I genuinely enjoyed it!

bad game with a good idea. I love the scratch like coding part especially for magic type games. I strongly dislike the parkour. Its trying to be celeste with much worse controls. For the bosses its either you get deleted or the boss gets deleted, cus both just spam bullets and hope for the best. From low to high difficulty that does not even change. Also for the dev: Please fix the mana cost issue when using float for repeat count. Also an else block for the if would be nice so ya dont have to make a mirror IF NOT block that breaks the mana cost for the ppl not abusing the bug. Right now the game thinks i try to apply both aspects to one bullet. Neither does this even work, nor does it see the mutually exclusive if blocks properly here.... If you want to keep the inf mana part, maybe put it beside noclip on the difficulty section.

It's a good start, but it desperately needs more actual effects to use. For all the unlimited customization potential, there are only 3 damage types, 1 status effect, (just an underwhelming, non-stackable dot) and a shield effect. No matter how good you are at programming your spells to self-replicate, move, etc, there's ultimately only so much to do with them. You cant even control the damage amount on any given orb. As great as the underlying system is, success just boils down to "make more orbs" which is a shame because there's so much potential to do really creative and interesting things with the programming system.

Enemy combat capabilites are lacking at times and it's quite short. The spell system feels fantastic though, the visuals are quite appealing and 10-ish$ is definitely reasonable for what you get, not to mention it goes on sale for as low as 4$, which is a steal imo. Just wish there was more content (but they're not exactly a massive game studio) Opptional challenge like boss gauntlets/some sort of way to refight bosses would be nice (a godhome type of thing)
