Art of Solitaire

I like supporting independent artists. The art is not the issue with this game, it's beatiful and clearly the artists worked hard. The gameplay isn't an issue with this game. It's solitaire. Really hard to mess up. Why I am giving this a thumbs down is how I found this game combined with the monetization. I found this through the Gayming LGBTQ+ Direct from Summer Games Fest. I am all about supporting queer indie artists as a queer indie artist myself. But this game is so predatorily monetized it's insane. It's very obvious that progression is handicapped in favor of people paying for microtransactions and subscriptions. It's so scummy to target the LGBTQ+ community who wants to support fellow queer creators with microtransations and F2P BS. Either make it less tedious for free players or just charge me 20 bucks for the whole game and lock decks behind level progression.

As an independent artist, I can't deny that the art included in this is beautiful, varied and inclusive, and a grand celebration of art, especially in this day and age with the presence of AI slop. I think (casual) game developers should continue this trend of working with indie artists, as it leverages the game a lot. That said, that's all the positives I have to say about this, because the port of this to pc is horrid. Monetization aside, text goes all over the edges of the UI, the 'flicking' mechanic is not great to do with a mouse and keyboard, certain options just don't work in teh slightest, and the cards messing up with every click or drag feels annoying rather than satisfying. Then again, its only solitaire. Still, google solitaire feels more satisfying, of all things.

you know a game is good when it gets banned somewhere for having LGBTQIA+ themes some cool stuff: - i never thought i'd get obsessed with solitaire (again) but here i am.
