I don't know why, but I feel a slight sense of nostalgia, even though the graphics and colors are so simple. That feeling alone is worth checking this game out.

Ascent surprised me big time! Retro 2D platformer with point-and-click vibes, dodging obstacles in a stuck 2D realm feels fresh. Perma death ramps up challenge nicely, bosses require perfect execution – so satisfying when you nail it. Family-friendly yet tactical depth, gorgeous pixel art. At this sale price, insane value for 1-2 hour perfection!

Very short but fun experience. Music is a bit annoying, as it repeats over and over. After finishing (took me 16 minutes, including a lot of deaths) you have to Alt-F4 to exit, which is not great. Get this game on sale if you want to burn 10-15 minutes.
