Doesn't make sense until you play it through. Lots of jump scares for a short game, which helped with the length of the game. Two thumbs up for a solo dev!1 found this helpful
August Night… yeah. I loved this game. Visually, it looks incredible. The graphics are clean, detailed, and paired with an atmosphere that is genuinely unsettling—dark, quiet, and dripping with that “something is very wrong here” energy. It’s exactly what you want when you boot up a horror game and brace yourself for a bad time (the good kind of bad time). Now, story-wise? There basically isn’t one—and I don’t even mean that as a complaint. You walk up to your apartment building, climb the stairs, enter your apartment… and then things just start happening. No exposition dump, no long explanations. Just vibes. And fear. The ghost/monster is where this game really shines. It’s horrifying in the most uncomfortable way. Most of it looks almost like a normal human—but the front of its face is sliced off, and something about that design is so wrong that it sticks with you. It’s uncanny, disturbing, and absolutely nightmare fuel. And the jumpscares? ✨ Chef’s kiss. ✨ Perfectly timed, brutal, and effective. The kind that gets a genuine reaction out of you before your brain even catches up. My only complaint—and I mean only—is that it’s too short. For a short horror this one is cool. 6.5/101 found this helpful
Reminds me of that silent hill project that was canceled way back then, P.T. just set in a different area and different hellscape.
This is a really good looking game, and it is quite unsettling. No story, no directives - just a short, unnerving experience. I'd love to see this built upon, in to a full game with direction and objectives!
w graphics but yea it was short and I wanted more story.
