There's a reason that the developer is keeping their communication to Discord despite Early Access. While there are a lot of things that sorely need patching, there's been no patches a month into this "approximately a few months" Early Access period. Instead, you can read on their Discord server about features they'd like to add but with no real timeline/roadmap. Typos aplenty despite the lack of text. No options except a singular BGM-only slider (which doesn't help with the loud SFX, particularly the start of race horn), little in the way of game customization (pick an animal as your racer which doubles as the "Adjustable Difficulty", as there are no difficulty settings otherwise), placeholders for features that aren't implemented, and little to see that you can't infer from just the Steam screenshots. Abilities consist of "click on Abilities button, equip them all, including checking back every turn because there's no UI to tell you when you've picked up a new Ability", so there's no depth there. In theory you could try to aim for specific abilities, but you'll be too busy managing with buying dupes (+100% base effect per +2 dupes merged) or covering for resting trainers to bot…3 found this helpful
This one is really bad. I started with the tutorial and was to the last race but I was getting annoyed by the UI being all screwed up on a wide monitor. There is no save option so I figured it auto-saved like other games. I went back to the menu to look for the video settings, but there are no video settings. Actually, the "settings" button on the menu doesn't do anything at all. It's just a picture of a button lol. Okay, so I go back to play, and it doesn't restart where you left off, and instead it just starts a new game. That's super annoying, but oh well, so I started a new game with the cow racer. After winning that game, I had still only spent about 40 minutes in the game. Maybe someday this could be fun, but right now it's not even CLOSE to being ready for early access. This is bad.1 found this helpful
This game isn't complete yet, and that's a caveat to everything I'm saying. But there's a lot of potential here and it's a fun time. Yes, there are bugs. Yes, there are some things that need polish. However, beneath that is the core of something that has legs to run (no pun intended). I think the game could benefit from a few things. One major one being the way trainers lose stamina. That part can feel frustrating. Another being the diversity of trainers and abilities. That said, I think that more content is added, the frustrating parts of the gameplay loop are sanded down, and it gets a nice polish, this game could be a lot of fun. I really hope that the developer takes the time to keep working on it, expand the roster, take user feedback, work out the kinks, and keep the game growing!1 found this helpful
An awesome concept with HUGE potential, I can't wait for more updates and more animal racers! 😊
I understand the concept of Early Access and I was a fan of Super Auto Pets as well as Chao Gardens from Sonic Adventure 2 (which led me to buying this game). This game was simply not ready to be available to the public in any form other than a free Demo. It is almost entirely unplayable with the lack of button explanations, mechanics and visual issues in the game at the moment. The game is simply in an unplayable state worth $0.
Lots of cute animals you level up and race. The early access is fun to play. Who does not like animals, right?
